Automobile drivers, welders, miners, etc. often require goggles or the like for temporary protection of the eyes. This invention relates to an adjustable device for holding an eye accessory, such as a pair of goggles, and has for its principal object the provision of such a device which will hold the goggles in. a readily accessible position out of the users way, when not in use, and with which the goggles can be instantly adjusted to a position before the eyes when required for use.

Another object is to so construct the device that it can be easily attached and adjusted to any type of headdress.

Other objects and advantages reside in the detail construction of the invention, which is designed for simplicity, economy, and eificiency. These will become more apparent from the following description.

In the following detailed description of the invention reference is had to the accompanying drawing which forms a part hereof. Like numerals refer to like parts in all views of the drawing and throughout the description.

In the drawing:

Fig. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a typical miners cap with the improved holder applied thereto. In this view, the holder is in position to support an eye protecting device before the eyes.

Fig. 2 is a similar View showing the holder as it would appear when the eye protecting device is not in use.

Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the complete device ready for attachment to the users headdress.

For the purpose of description the holder is illustrated and described as applied to a miners cap for the purpose of holding a pair of screen goggles before the eyes, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to this particular use but will be found valuable wherever it is desired to place and remove eye protective devices before the eyes.

In the drawing, a typical miners cap is illustrated at I and a pair of screen-type goggles is indicated in broken line at H.

The improved holder consists of an arcuately bent bar I 2 shaped to extend around the front and one side of the cap Ill and supported adjacent its extremities in spring clips I3 of the Fahnestock type. These clips are formed of spring material and consist of a bifurcated extremity turned back on the clamp to receive a looped tongue M. The bar I2 is passed through the loop of the tongue and is clamped in place therein by the bifurcated extremity of the clip.

The clips l3 are perforated, as shown at I5, so that they may be attached to the cap III in any desired manner. As illustrated, the clips are secured to the cap by means of suitable rivets IS.

The bar l2 carries a pair of slide members I! shaped at their upper extremities to slidably engage the bar and formed at their lower extremities to provide inverted, resilient, U-shaped clamps l8 into which the upper edge of the goggles H is slipped.

The bar I2 is flattened on opposite sides to prevent rotation of the slide members so that the goggles cannot swing away from the eyes as the user leans forward. The clips l3 can be turned on the rivets IE to raise or lower the goggles to the proper adjusted position.

It can be readily seen that when in use the goggles are firmly supported before the users eyes and when not desired, they can be quickly and easily slid to one side of the cap where they will be completely out of the users way and yet instantly available when required.

While a specific form of the improvement has been described and illustrated herein, it is desired to be understood that the same may be varied, within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Havingthus described the invention, what is claimed and desired secured by Letters Patent is:

1. An attachment for a head dress for supporting a device before the wearers eyes comprising: a bar shaped to surround the front portion and one side of said head dress, clip members secured to said head dress and detachably engaging said bar adjacent its extremities; slide members carried by said bar; and means for detachably attaching said slide members to said device.

2. An attachment for a head dress for supporting a device before the wearers eyes comprising: a bar shaped to surround the front portion and one side of said head dress, clip members secured to said head dress and detachably engaging said bar adjacent its extremities; slide members carried by said bar; and means for detachably attaching said slide members to said device, said bar being other than circular so as to prevent rotation of said slide members.

3. An adjustable goggle holder comprising: a head encircling member; a bar secured adjacent its extremities to said member and shaped to surround the front and one side thereof; slide members mounted on said bar and arranged to slide there along; and means for attaching said slide members to a goggle.

4. An adjustable goggle holder comprising: a head encircling member; a bar secured adjacent its extremities to said member and shaped to surroundthe front and one side thereof; slide members mounted on said bar and. arranged to slide there along; and a resilient clamp on said slide members to engage said goggle so that the latter may be slid from a position at one side of said band to a position at the front of said band.
