To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J AMES WARREN, of the city, county, and State of New York, now residing at No. 32 West Fortieth street, in said city, have invented a new and useful machine named a window-sash stopper, and used to retain the sash in any desired position and preventing the sash from shaking in any current of air; and I dohereby declare Vthat the following is ai'u1l,olear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in Which- Figure l represents the frame; Fig. 2, the entire machine in perspective; Fig. 3, the roller, the core, and its eye; Fig. 5, the sash in perspective, with the machine inserted on the one edge and strips of ivory on the other; Fig. 4, an end view of the sash with the ma chine and the ivory inserted.
rlhe frame, Fig. 1, is made of cast-iron or brass; letters A and B, the aperture for the reception of the roller, Fig. 3.
In Fig. 2, A A represent the frame; B, the
roller; C, the hood, and D the pin passing through the eye.
The roller, Fig. 3, is cast of india-rubber, is
about an inch in diameter and three-fourths of an inch Wide, B, and the metallic core and eye, E.
Fig. 5 represents the insertion of the machine in one edgev of the sash G G and the ivory F F in the other.
Fig. Jcrepresents the end of the sash n situ, and the insertion of the machine G and the ivory F. The ivory strips mentioned are onehali'a-ninch Wide and over one-eighth of an inch thick, and the length corresponds with thickness ofthe style ofthe sash, and its use is to Obviate undue friction.
Now, what I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the whole of the abovedescribed machinery and its appropriation to the purposes herein specied.
Witnesses: JAMES WARREN.
