G. EISENHARDT.
BU'GKSAW FRAME. No. 394,477; Patented D96. '11, .1888.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHRISTOPHER EISENHARDT, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO HENRY DISSTON & SONS, OI" PENNSYLVANIA.
BUCKSAW-FRAM E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 394,477, dated December 11, 1888.
Application filed August 26, 1888- Serial No. 283,742. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHRISTOPHER EISEN- HARDT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Bucksaw- Frames, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide an effective brace for the end bars of a bucksawa frame, and this object I attain in the manner hereinafter set forth, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which represents,
partly in section and partly in side view, a
bucksaw with brace constructed in accord- 15. ance with my invention.
A B are the opposite end bars of the bucksaw-frame; D, the saw-blade securely connected at its opposite ends to said bars; and F, the usual tension-rod, whereby the upper 2o ends of the bars are connected.
3o brace-bar H, however, are bent upward, or reversely curved in respect to the arched central portion of the same, and these. opposite ends likewise form tenons a, adapted to mortises Z), formed in the bars A B some distance above the mortises I), which receive the ten- 3 5 ons of the bar (i.
I have found that by imparting an arched form to the central portion of the supplementary brace-bar, II, and upwardly curving or bending the outer ends of the same in the manner described I provide an effective and extremely rigid brace for the bars A 13, and thus insure the proper stretching of the sawblade by means of the tension-rod F.
Having thus described my invention, I claim The combination of the opposite end bars, blade, and tension-rod of a bucksaw with a brace consisting of an arched main bar and a supplementary bar located above the same and secured thereto, the central portion of said supplementary brace-bar being arched to correspond with the main bar, but the opposite ends of the supplementary brace-bar being upwardly curved or bent, and the ends of both brace-bars being adapted to seats in the end bars of the frame, all substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHRISTOPHER EISENHARDT.
