UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB N. FAUST, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS.
GARMENT-SUPPO RTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 393,550, dated November 27, 1888.
Application filed August 21, 1888. Serial No. 283,301. (No model.)
To (LZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB N. FAUST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, haveinvented certain new and useful [inprovcmeuts in Garment-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct a garment supporter easy of application and simple in construction; and it consists of a frame to which is pivoted a wheel having radial arms which engage the garment and hold it firmly in position.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a face elevation of a garment-supporter with garment held in place therein. Fig. 2 is a section on dotted line a, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a face elevation showing the frame with wheel pivoted thereto. Fig. 4 is a face elevation of the frame. Fig. 5 is a face view of the wheel.
The face of my improved garment-supporter consists of the parallel side bars, 1 and 2, connect-ed at one end by a curved bar, 3, and at their other end by a transverse bar, 4. A p0rtion, 5, projects from the side bar 2 on its inner edge. and is perforated, as at 6. A wheel, 7, is centrally perforated, and consists of the arms 8, 9, 10, and 11, having blunt or rounded ends, which will prevent the garment being cut or punctured when engaged therewith. This wheel is supported on the project-ion 5 of the frame by an eyelet, 13, passing through the perforations in the projection and wheel, and will revolve on such support. A band or elastic, 14, is connected to the transverse bar 4 in the usual manner.
In applying my improved garmentholder to a garment a portion of the garment is passed through the frame from its under side and engages one of the arms of the wheel. The wheel will revolve upon its support and cause the garment to impinge between the wheel and side bar of the frame, also cause the garment to surround one of the arms of the wheel in such a manner as to securely hold it in position, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. A reverse movement of the wheel will release the garment from the holder.
I claim as my invention 1. A garment'holder consisting of a frame with a central opening and a wheel provided with radial arms having blunt ends pivoted to said frame, substantially as set forth.
2. A garmentholder consisting of an open frame provided with a lateral extension and a wheel pivoted to said extension and provided with radiating arms, said arms overlapping the opposite portion of said frame, thereby clamping the garment between the opposite side of the frame and the wheel, substantially as set forth.
3. A garment holder consisting of a frame provided with a central opening and a wheel pivoted to said frame and provided with arms, the breadth of said wheel being greater than the breadth of the opening, whereby the garmentis clamped between the side of said frame and said wheel, substantially as set forth.
J AOOB N. FAUST.
