- HAND-MIRRCR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 377,282, dated January 31, 1888.
Application filed August 20, 1887. Serial No. 247,406. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEONHARD WIEDERER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in HandMirrors, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to an improved hand-mirror, the folding handle of which is so constructed that it may be used as a stand for supporting the mirror; and the invention con sists of a hand-mirror having a forked handle applied to the back of the same by a frictionclamp, said handle being provided at the lower end with one or more ring or loop shaped extensions connected to the handle by frictionscrews, so as to be set at any suitable angle to the handle and form thereby with the handle a foot or stand for the mirror.
In the accompanying drawings, Figures 1 and 3 represent side elevations of a mirror with my improved handle. Figs. 2 and 4 are rear elevations of the handle shown in Figs. 1 and 3.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
In the drawings, A represents a forked handle which is made of wire, sheet metal, or other suitable material, and attached by a friction-clamp, a, to a plate, 6, attached to the back of the mirror-frame. To the lower end of the handle A are pivoted one or more ring or loop shaped extension-pieces, C, the
connection of said extension-pieces with the handle being made by suitable friction-screws, d d, and an intermediate transverse socket or brace, d, so that the extension piece or pieces may be set at any suitable angle of inclination to the handle A, and thereby form, in connection with the handle A, a stand for supporting the mirror in any suitable position on the table or other support. The central extension piece or pieces, 0, form the base or foot of the stand, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. After use the extension-piece may be folded onto the handle, so as to take up little room, and the latter folded on the back of the mirror, so that the mirror can be conveniently put away or packed for shipment.
Having thus described my invention,I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with amirror, of a forked handle,a friction-clamp connectingsaid handle with the back of the mirror, and an extension piece or pieces pivoted by friction-screws to the lower end of the handle, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in pres ence of two subscribing witnesses.
LEONHARD 'WIEDERER.
