Abstract

The invention comprises a horizontally elongated channel member with a pair of upright straps mounted to opposite sides thereof, and extending vertically upward therefrom. A second elongated channel member is disposed within the first channel member and pivotally mounted to the first channel member. The pivotally mounted second channel member has a blade at its forward end. A C-shaped strap member has its upper end connected to the upper end of the upright straps and extends rearward about an arc with its lower end along the second channel member. A roll of tickets are mounted to the upright straps with the outer end of the roll of tickets extending across the top of the blade. An arm is pivotally mounted to the upright straps. Ticket advancing bracket means are mounted to the arm and are adapted to travel along the C-shaped strap with the arm engaging the tickets to advance the tickets across the blade in response to the arm movement. Means are provided which stop the ticket advancing bracket means at the end of the ticket advance, while enabling the arm to continue onward to actuate the pivotal channel to cause the blade to severe the advanced tickets from the rest of the roll.

Kleve [57] ABSTRACT The invention comprises a horizontally elongated channel member with a pair of upright straps mounted to opposite sides thereof, and extending vertically upward therefrom. A second elongated channel member is disposed within the first channel member and pivotally mounted to the first channel member. The pivotally mounted second channel member has a blade at its forward end. A C-shaped strap member has its upper end connected to the upper end of the upright straps and extends rearward about an arc with its lower end along the second channel member. A roll of tickets are mounted to the upright straps with the outer end of the roll of tickets extending across the top of the blade. An arm is pivotally mounted were upright straps. Ticket advancing bracket means are mounted to the arm and are adapted to travel along the C-shaped strap with the arm engaging the tickets to advance the tickets across the blade in response to the arm movement. Means are provided which stop the ticket advancing bracket means at'the end of the ticket advance, while enabling the arm" to continue onward to actuate the pivotal channel to cause the blade to severe the advanced tickets from the rest of the roll.

MASON BY mmw ATTORNEY TICKET DISPENSING DEVICE This invention relates to ticket dispensing apparatus or devices, more particularly, the invention relates to ticket selection, dispensing, and cutting or severing apparatus.
It is an object of the invention to provide a novel ticket dispensing apparatus which will advance a desired number of tickets from the rest of the ticket roll and severe the advanced tickets from the rest of the roll, and which can be easily operated and manufactured with a minumin of cost and expense.
It is a further object of the invention to provide a novel ticket device which can be simply operated to advance a desired number of tickets and separate the advanced tickets from the rest of the roll easily and rapidly.
Further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent as the descroption proceeds and when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings wherein:

Briefly stated the invention comprises a ticket dispensing device having a horizonal base channel with a generally horizonally extending inner channel pivotally mounted to said base channel with a :blade at one end, a pair of upright arms extending up from said base channel and supporting a roll of tickets, a cylindrical strap extending from above the ticket roll, around the end of the ticket roll and into the inner channel for guiding the tickets into the channel, a lever means mounted to sit upright and adapted to pivot along the circumference of strap to'advance the tickets from the roll past the blade, ticket advancing bracket means on the arm grasping and advancing the tickets along the strap, and means stopping said advancing means when the selected number of tickets have been advanced past the blade and enabling the arm to continue onward to actuate the second channel to pivot said second channel to cause the blade at the outer end of the second channel to severe the advancing tickets from the rest of the roll.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, in FIG. 1 the ticket selection and severing device is illustrated having a horizonal elongated base channel 21. The base channel 21 has a generally U-shaped crosssection and is mounted on a rectangular base panel 22. A pair of vertically extending upright strapmembers 23 and 24 extend vertically upward in parallel spaced relation to one another. The tops of the upright straps 23 and 24 are connected together by a lateral strap portion 25. The bottoms of the straps 23 and 24 are fixed to the inside of the side walls 26 and 27 of the channel 21.
A second channel member 28, also has a U-shaped cross-section and is pivotally mounted to the first channel member 21 by means of a pin 29 which extends through the side wall 30 and 31 of channel member 28 and through the side walls 26.and 27 of channel member 21. v
A C-shaped spring steel strap 32 serves as a guide for the tickets. The strap 35 has lateral tongue 32 at its upper end which fits into a lateral slot 34 in the top strap portion 25 of the upright straps 22 and 23 as seen in FIGS. 6 and '10. The C-shapedl strap 32 bows rearwardly with its lower end 32' fixed to the side walls 26 and 27 by means of a pair of vertically extending side flanges portions 32" and 32"" formed integrally with the strap 32 and which extends downwardly from the strap 32 and flush against the side walls 26 and 27 respectively as seen in FIG. 8 and are fixed thereto by rivets or other suitable means.
A second C-shaped strap 36 is also made of spring steel and is narrower than the first steel strap member also it bows rearwardly along the inside circumference of the strap 32. The strap 37 hasits lower portion 37' riveted to a U-bracket 38 and the U-bracket is pivotally mounted on pin 29. The lower forwardmost end 37" of the strap 37 rests upon the forward end 32" of the strap 32.
The upper end of strap 37" is wrapped around a pin 39. The pin 39 is fixed to the upper end of an elongated lever 40. The intermediate portion of the lever 40 is pivotally mounted to the upright strap 23 by means of a rivet 41. The lever 40 has a ball bearing 42 socketed in the lower end of the lever 41 which frictionally engages the strap 23 to create a frictional drag so as to retain the lever in its adjusted position.
Anactuating arm 43 has a Ushaped bracket 44. The bracket 44 has a pair of opposing leg portions 44' and 44" with the upper ends of the legs 44" and 44 being pivotally mounted to the upright straps 23 and 24 about the horizonal axis 47. The straps 44 and 44" are fixed to bearing members 48 and 49 and the bearing members 48 and49 each have reduced annular channel portions 48 and 49 which rotate in bores 50 and 50' in straps 23 and 24.
The apex of the U-bracket 44 of the arm 43 has a gentral plate 51 which extends outwardly from the racket, a spherical handle 53 is fixed to the outer portion of the centralplate for pivoting the actuating arm 43 about the axis 47. A pair of rollers 53 and 54 are mounted to the lower portion 51' of the central plate of the arm for rearward end 28 of the channel member 28 to actuate the channel member 28.
TICKET ADVANCING BRACKET Mounted to the arm 43 between the legs 44 and 44" of the U-bracket 44 of the arm is a ticket advancing bracket 55. The ticket advancing bracket 55 as seen in FIG. 1,2,6,810 has a curved central plate portion 56 which has a curvature only slightly smaller than the inner circumference of strap 32 and the ticket advancing bracket 55 slides along the inner cylindrical surface of the strap 32 as the arm 43 .ispivoted.
The advancing bracket 55 also has a pair of side flanges 57 and 58 which extend upward from the central plate portion 56 and are formed integrally with the central plate portion. The advancing bracket has a pin 59 extending through side flanges 57 and 58 and fixed thereto.
The ticket advancing bracket 55 is slidably mounted in the U-bracket 44 of the arm, the pin 59 of the ticket advancing bracket being slidably mounted in pair arcuate slots 60 and 60 of the legs 44 and 44" of U- bracket 44 of the arm 43. A pair of spring steel rods 61 and 61' each have their upper ends wrapped around and fixed to pins 115 and 116 which are fixed to legs 44' and 44" respectively. A pair of pins 117 and 118 are mounted to legs 44' and 44 and engage the spring steel rods 61 and 61 to urge them downward when viewed from FIGS. 1 and 6 to cause the lower ends of the rods 61 and 61' to engage against pin 59 of the ticket advancing bracket 55 to retain the ticket advancing bracket 55 and its pin 59 in its position shown in FIGS. 1 and 6, with the pin 59 positioned at the lower ends of the arcuate slots 60 and 60.
The central plate portion 56 of the ticket advancing bracket has four ticket advancing claws 62, 62, 63 and 63' which project upward from the arcuate portion 56' of the central plate 56.
A cutting plate 64'is mounted to the forward end of the channel member 21. The cutting plate 64 has a lateral slot 65 and a pair of vertically extending side flanges 66 and 67 which are fixed in flush relationship with the side walls 26 and 27, respectively by rivets.
A slanted guide plate 68 is mounted to the channel member 21 beneath the cutting plate 64. The slanted plate 68 has a pair of side flanges 69 and 70 which are flush with the side walls 26 and 27 respectively and are fixed thereto by rivets or other suitable means.
A ticket roll holder bracket 71 is provided having an arm 72. The upper end 72' of the arm 72 is pivotally mounted to the upright strap 24 by a pin 72". A cylindrical plug-like shaft member 74 is fixed to the lower end of the arm 72. A pair of axally aligned conical recesses 73 and 73- are provided with one conical recess 73 being in the end of one end 74 of the shaft 74 and the other conical recess 73' being in the lower outer surface 72 of the arm 72 with conical recess 73 being in horizonal axial adjacent with recess 73.
A pair of conical points 75 and 75' are provided on the inside of the bearing members 48 and 49.
A roll of tickets 76 are mounted onto the shaft 74 as shown in FIG. 1.
INSTALLATION OF THE TICKET ROLL The roll of tickets 76 are rolled about a cardboard sleeve collar 77 in a conventional manner. To mount the roll of tickets to the device the arm 72 will be swung counter clockwise from its position shown in FIGS. 1 and 6 about the axis of pin 72 to move shaft 74 sufficently far enough away from the support straps 23 and 24 that the ticket roll may be attached onto the shaft 74 by inserting the sleeve of the roll onto the shaft 74.
Thereafter the arm 72 will be swung clockwise back to its position shown in FIGS. 1 and 6 and as the shaft 74 enters between the straps 23 and 24 the shaft 74 at the lower end of the arm will engage the points and 75' at the bearing members of the upright strap and spread the upright straps outward momentarily to enable the shaft to swing into its aligned position shown in FIGS. 1,5, and 6, whereupon the points 75 and 75 will snap into the recesses 73 and 73 to bracket the shaft 74 in position between the straps 23 and 24, as shown in FIGS. 1,5,and 6. The straps 23 and 24 will be made of spring steel to give them sufficent resilance to spread out for this operation.
Once the roll has been attached, to facilitate the introduction of the outer end 76 of the ticket roll between straps 32 and 37, the lever 40 will be pivoted counterclockwise from its position shown in FIGS. 1 and 6 about rivet 41, which draws the upper end 37 of the strap 37 to the right and downward thereby drawing the bowed central portion of the strap 37 further away from the strap 32 than shown in FIGS. 1 and 6 and thereby making it easier to insert the end 76' of the ticket roll there between.
The outer end 76 of the ticket roll will be inserted between the straps 32 and 37 at the upper end of the upright straps 23 and 24 and slid arcuately rearwardly and downwardly between the bowed strap 32 and the bowed strap 37, over the top of the central plate portion of the advancing bracket 55 and out between the forward end 32" and 37" of the strap 32 and 37 until the forwardmost end of 77 of the forwardmost ticket 108 will be aligned directly above the blade of the channel member.
Once the ticket roll and ticket end have been attached as shown in FIGS. 1 and 6, the lever 40 will be pivoted back to its position shown in FIGS. 1 and 6.
The tickets are formed conventionally with perforation lines between each ticket. The machine is so dimensioned that when the forwardmost ticket has its forward edge aligned directly above the blade as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8 there will be nine tickets between phantom line 80 and phantom line 89, with the perforation lines between each ticket being aligned with the phantom lines. Also, the distance between the upper pair of claws 62 and 62' of the ticket advancing bracket 55 and the lower claws 63 and 63 of the ticket advancing bracket is equal to the length of one of these tickets.
OPERATION The ticket advancing and severing invention 20 will advance and severe any desired number of tickets up to and including four, repeatedly, from the rest of the ticket roll.
The operator simply raises and swings the arm 43 from its position shown in FIG. 1, upward clockwise to a point where the upper edge of the U-bracket 44 of the arm 43 is aligned with the lower edge of the numbered strips, either 90, 91, 92, and 93, where the number of the strips correspond to the number of tickets desired. Thereupon, the operator will swing the arm 43 back downward in a counterclockwise direction, when viewed from FIG. 1 with the claws 62, 62', 63, 63' on the ticket advancing bracket of the arm 43 engaging the tickets between their notches as the arm 43 and bracket moves counterclockwise downward, pushing the end 76 of the ticket roll, causing the end 76 to slide downward between straps 32 and 37. The arm and ticket advancing bracket 55 will continue to move downward, with the end 76 of the ticket roll moving along with them, until the pin 59 of the ticket advancing bracket 55 engages the notches 96 and 96 on the upright plate 97 and 97' which plates are fixed to the sides of walls 26 and 27 respectively. At the point the pin 59 engages the notches 96 and 96' the number of tickets, corresponding to the strip, either 90, 91, 92, and 93, to which the arm was aligned at the top of the upward movement of the arm, willhave been advanced past the blade member 98 of the channel 28;
Once the pin 59 of the ticket advancing bracket engages the notches 96 and 96' this prevents any further advancing of the ticket advancing bracket and thus any further advancing of the end 76' of the ticket roll. How.- ever, the operator will continue to move the arm 43, causing the pin 59, relative to the U-bracket 44, to slide upward in arcuate slots. The arm 43 in moving downward will, through its rollers 54 and 54' engage the rear edge 28' of the channel member 28, and pivot the channel member 28 counterclockwise (when viewed in FIG. 1) downward, causing the blade 98 of the other end of the channel 28 to pivot upward to its position shown in FIG. 4 and with the upper edge 98' of the blade 98 cutting through the tickets at their perforation line, thereby cutting the tickets, just severed, off from the outer end 76' of the ticket roll.
A pivotally mounted bracket 101 has a pair of pointed knifelike edges 101' and 102 at its lower end. The bracket 101 is pivotally mounted on a pin 104 to pivot about the pin 104. The pin 104 is fixed to a plate 105, and the plate 105 is fixed to the side walls 26 and 27 of the channel member 21. The points 101 and. 102 at the lower end of the bracket 101 will dig into the top of the tickets, if the outer end 76' of the ticket roll is attempted to be moved clockwise along the straps 32 and 34, when viewed from FIGS. 1 and 6, and this prevents any counterclockwise movement of the outer end 76' of the tickets along the straps 32 and 37, while the arm 43 is pivoted clockwise upward driving the selection of the desired number of tickets.
EXAMPLE OF OPERATION Assuming for purposes of illustration that the operator wishes to sever two tickets from the rest of the roll: The operator will grasp the handle 52 and pivot the actuating arm 43 clockwise from its position shown in solid lines to its position shown in phantom lines (designated by numeral 106) which arm movement also moves the ticket advancingbracket 55 clockwise with the arm 43. l
UPWARD MOVEMENT As the handle 52, arm 43, and ticket advancing bracket 55 move upward, the bracket 101 will prevent the outer end 76 of the ticket roll from sliding or moving clockwise with the handle and arm 43 and its ticket advancing bracket 55 as it pivots counterclockwise and consequently; the end 76 of the ticket roll will remain stationary while the ticket advancing bracket 55 and its claws slide clockwise upward, when viewed from FIG. 1, beneath the end 76' of the ticket roll. The claws 62, 62' 63, 63' of the ticket advancing bracket being pointed in a counterclockwise direction when viewed from FIG. 1, will simply slide beneath-the tickets and not noticably disturb the tickets.
When the arm 43 in its clockwise travel, reaches its position in FIG. 1, in phantom lines and designated by numeral 106, the advancing claws of the ticket advancing bracket will be aligned directly beneath and in the notches 120 between the tickets. At this point there will be six tickets in front of claws 62 and 62', or in 6 other words, between claws 62 and 62" and the blade 98. These tickets being numbered 1.0.8, 109, 110. 111, 112, and 113 on FIG. 1, for purposes of illustration.
DOWNWARD MOVEMENT When the arm reaches its point shown in phantom, lines in FIG. 1, the upper edge of the U-bracket 44 of the arm will be aligned even with the lower edge of strip number 2, which is designated by the numeral. The arm 43 may now be pivoted counterclockwise downward and the projecting claws 62 and 62 will engage the ticket 112 and claws 63 and 63' will engage the ticket 111 in the notched area and move the outer edge 76' of the ticket roll with the ticket advancing bracket and arm. The ticket roll itself will rotate freely with the movement feeding out tickets.
However, to insure that the claws will engage the tickets in the notches, the arm may be slid slightly above its position shown in phantom lines in FIG. 1 and then moved counterclockwise downward.
The ticket advancing bracket is provided with a set of claws to assure that if one of the claws may for some reason miss the ticket edge, there will be other claws to engage the edge of the ticket.
The operator having raised the arm 43 to a position preferably slightly above its position shown in phantom linesin FIG. 1, he will move the arm counterclockwise downward and the claws 62, 62', and 63, 63 of the ticket advancing bracket will project upward in the tickets between ticket 112 which will engage the tickets and move the end 76' of the ticket roll downward with the arm until the pin 59 engages in the notches 9.6 and 96. At this point two tickets 108 and 109 will have been advanced forward past the blade with the perforated edge between tickets 109 and lying directly above the blade 98.
Since the ticket advancing bracket 55 cannot move any further downward once it engages in the notches 96 and 96', this assures that the rear edge of the second ticket will be aligned directly above the blade with reasonably machine accuracy.
The operator will continue pressing the handle 52 downward after the ticket advancing bracket 55 has been stopped by its engagement in the notches 96 and 96'. The arm 43 in moving downward will engage the rollers 54 and 54' against the rearedge 28 of channel member 28, and by continuing to press the arm downward will pivot the channel member 28 upward, the
arm and channel member 28 will reach their position shown in FIG. 4. The blade 98 at the forward end of channel member 28 in pivoting upward will cut through the rear edge of ticket 109 along the perforation line and the blade at the end of its upward movement will project through the elongated slot 65 in the plate 64, as shown in FIG. 4. The two tickets 108 and 109 severed from the rest of the roll will rest in between plates 64 and 65 and may be removed by simply grasping the outer ticket 108. a
, HANDLE RETURN The pressing down of the handle 52 moves the arm from its postion shown in solid lines to FIG. 1 to its position shown in solid lines in FIG. 4, moves the U- bracket, while the advancing bracket 55. remains stationary. This movement urges the spring rods 61 and 61' backward.
Consequently, when the handle 52 and arm 43 has been pushed down to the position shown in FIG. 4, the operator will release the handle 52 and the spring 61 and 61' will urge the handle 52, its U-bracket and the arm 43 back to its original position as shown in FIG. 1, and cause the ticket advancing bracket 55 to be moved back to its position shown in FIG. 1. A return sring 1 17 beneath channel member 28 will thereupon cause the return of channel member 28 to its position shown in FIG. 1
The operator may now repeat the operation to advance and sever one, two, three, or four tickets and sever them from the rest of the ticket foll.
To remove the ticket roll 76 and end 76' of the ticket roll from the device 20, the lever 40 will be pivoted clockwise from its position shown in FIG. 1 and 6,
which draws the strap 37 away from strap 32, making it easier to remove the end 76' of the ticket roll. Then the bracket 101 will be pushed counterclockwise from its position shown in FIGS. 1 and 6 to free the outer end 76' of the ticket roll so that the outer end 76 may be slid clockwise out of straps 32 and 37 and out of the machine. The roll 76 will be removed by pivoting the arm counterclockwise from its position shown in FIGS. 1 and 6.
The strap 37 serves as a frictional drag on the end 76' of the ticket roll and may be varied by the adjusting of lever 40.
The notched disk 114 will be frictionally engaged to the arm 43 with sufficient friction so as to move with the arm 43 when the arm 43 moves clockwise, and remain stationary while the arm 43 moves counterclockwise. The metal strip 115 when in any one of the notches 114 will hold the disk 114 stationary when the arm moves counterclockwise.
Also, as the arm 43 moved upward to it position shown in phantom lines, the notched wheel 1 l4 rotated with the arm, being fixed to the leg 44" of the U- bracket. The notched wheel 114 has notches 114 which are evenly spaced from one another and aligned so the spring metal strap 115 will snap into one of the notches, when the upper edge 95 of the arm is aligned with the lower edge of one of the strips 90,91,92, or 93, to signal to the operator that the ticket advancing bracket claws have been aligned with the notches of the appropriate ticket for advancing the number of tickets, corresponding to the numbered strip, out of the forward end of the machine.
Also the strap 32 may have a pair of narrow annular flanges projecting radially inward a short distance along opposite side edges of the strap 32 to form a channel.
Also the ticket dispensing device may be modified to select, advance, and sever more than four tickets.
Also, the ticket dispensing device is of relatively light weight and readily portable from place to place.
Also, the ticket dispensing device may be modified by widening the machine including the arcuate strap 32 and associated channel members and components to accomodate duplex tickets; and also the device may be modified to handle machine tickets, and tickets having holes in the center thereof, by providing a center claw on the advancing bracket to engage the tickets in the center opening.
Thus, it will be seen that a novel and positive ticket selecting, advancing, and severing device or apparatus has been provided which can be rapidly and easily operated for advancing and severing different desired numbers of tickets from the rest of the roll.
It will be obvious that various changes and departures may be made to the invention without departing from the spirit thereof and accordingly, it is not intended that the invention be limited to that specifically described in the specification or as illustrated in the drawings but only as set forth in the appended claims wherein.
What is claimed is:
1. A ticket dispensing apparatus having a horizontally disposed channel member, lever means pivotally mounted to the channel member, said lever means having a blade at one end, a pair of upright supports mounted to said channel means, generally C-shaped strap means extending from the upper edge of said upright supports down in an arc to said channel member, said upright supports being adapted to receive a roll of tickets with the outer end of the tickets extending along the C-shaped strap means, an arm pivotally mounted to said upright supports, ticket advancing means mounted to the arm and adapted to travel with the arm along the C-shaped strap means to advance the outer end of the tickets in response to the arm movement, means stopping the ticket advancing means at the end of the ticket advance, means enabling the arm to continue movement to actuate said lever means to move said blade against the outer end of the tickets to sever the advanced tickets from the rest of the roll.
2. A ticket dispensing apparatus comprising a frame, horizontal guideway means on said frame, lever means having a blade at one end and movably mounted on said frame to move said blade across said guideway means, upright support means mounted on said frame, generally arcuate guideway means extending from the upper edge of said upright support means down in an arc to said horizontal guideway means, said upright support means being adapted to receive a roll of tickets with the outer end of the tickets extending along the inside of the arcuate guideway means, a generally C- shaped strap means mounted to said upright support means and extending along the inside of said outer end of said tickets in generally parallel relation to said arcuate guideway means to guide movement of said tickets, an arm movably mounted to said upright support means, ticket advancing means mounted to said arm and adapted to travel with said arm along said arcuate guideway means to advance the outer end of the tickets in response to the arm movement, means stopping the ticket advancing means at the end of the ticket advance, means enabling said arm to actuate said lever means to move said blade against said outer end of the tickets to sever the advanced tickets from the rest of the roll.
3. A ticket dispensing apparatus comprising a frame, guideway means on said frame, lever means having a blade and movably mounted on said frame to move said blade across said guideway means, said guideway means being adapted to receive and guide the outer end strip of a ticket roll along the guideway means, ticket advancing means comprising claw means to engage and advance the outer end strip of the ticket roll along the guideway means, means actuating said lever means to move said blade against said ticket strip to sever the advanced tickets from the rest of the roll.
4. A ticket'dispensing apparatus according to claim 3 wherein said tickets have openings between each 4 wherein aiselecting means is provided whereby a selected number of tickets may be advanced and severed by said blade.

A ticket dispensing apparatus having a horizontally disposed channel member, lever means pivotally mounted to the channel member, said lever means having a blade at one end, a pair of upright supports mounted to said channel means, generally Cshaped strap means extending from the upper edge of said upright supports down in an arc to said channel member, said upright supports being adapted to receive a roll of tickets with the outer end of the tickets extending along the C-shaped strap means, an arm pivotally mounted to said upright supports, ticket advancing means mounted to the arm and adapted to travel with the arm along the C-shaped strap means to advance the outer end of the tickets in response to the arm movement, means stopping the ticket advancing means at the end of the ticket advance, means enabling the arm to continue movement to actuate said lever means to move said blade against the outer end of the tickets to sever the advanced tickets from the rest of the roll.

A ticket dispensing apparatus comprising a frame, horizontal guideway means on said frame, lever means having a blade at one end and movably mounted on said frame to move said blade across said guideway means, upright support means mounted on said frame, generally arcuate guideway means extending from the upper edge of said upright support means down in an arc to said horizontal guideway means, said upright support means being adapted to receive a roll of tickets with the outer end of the tickets extending along the inside of the arcuate guideway means, a generally C-shaped strap means mounted to said upright support means and extending along the inside of said outer end of said tickets in generally parallel relation to said arcuate guideway means to guide movement of said tickets, an arm movably mounted to said upright support means, ticket advancing means mounted to said arm and adapted to travel with said arm along said arcuate guideway means to advance the outer end of the tickets in response to the arm movement, means stopping the ticket advancing means at the end of the ticket advaNce, means enabling said arm to actuate said lever means to move said blade against said outer end of the tickets to sever the advanced tickets from the rest of the roll.

A ticket dispensing apparatus comprising a frame, guideway means on said frame, lever means having a blade and movably mounted on said frame to move said blade across said guideway means, said guideway means being adapted to receive and guide the outer end strip of a ticket roll along the guideway means, ticket advancing means comprising claw means to engage and advance the outer end strip of the ticket roll along the guideway means, means actuating said lever means to move said blade against said ticket strip to sever the advanced tickets from the rest of the roll.
4. A ticket dispensing apparatus according to claim 3 wherein said tickets have openings between each ticket with said claw means being adapted to slide along said guideway means and project into said openings and engage the edges of the tickets for advancing said outer end strip of said ticket roll.
5. A ticket dispensing apparatus according to claim 4 wherein a selecting means is provided whereby a selected number of tickets may be advanced and severed by said blade.
