To all whom it may concern.-
Be it'known thatl,`EUGENE C. GILLEM, of Madison, in the county of Madison and State of Nebraska, have invented a certain new and usefulImprovementinBarrel-Holders,of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descripf tion, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,formi ng par'tofthis speciticatiomand in which-- Figure I is a perspective View, and Fig. II is aside view,rof my holder, showing it at the end of a counter. f
My invention relates to a device for holding barrels, and which is intended more partielllarly for use in grocery-stores; and my invention consists in features of novelty hereinafter fully described, and pointed outin the claims.
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents an upright rock`shaft or rod; 2, an upper bearingplate, and 4 a lower bearing-plate supporting the shaft. On the lower end ofthe upright rod is a fork, 9, having lugs 7 and 8 and points 10.
11 is a slide on the rod, which is provided with hooks 12. y 13 is a slide also on the rod, which is prefp erably provided with forks 14.
Thebearing-plates 2 and 4 are respectively secured to the ioorand the under side of the counter by screws or any suitable means. The lugs 7 and 8 and the points 10 on the fork 9 hold the barrel at the bottom from shifting from its right position while itis supported by the fork. The top of the barrel is held in place by the hooks -12 on the slide 11.
The slide 13 is secured to the lid of the barrel by means of screws or otherwise.
The operation of my device is as follows: The device being firstsecured under the counter, as described, the barrel is placed on the fork 9 Vwith the chine resting between the lugs 7 and 8, and the bottom of the barrel resting on the points 10. The hooks 12 on the slide 11 are then placed over the upper chine of the barrel, thereby holding the barrel securely in po.

I claim as my invention- 1. The combination, in a barrel-holder, of the rock-shaft or rod, a fork on the lower end of the shaft, and lugs 7 and 8 and points on the fork, between which lugs ts the chine of the barrel, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination, in a'barrel-holder, of the rock-shaft or rod, slide 11, having hooks 12, slide 13,.to which the lid is secured, and fork 9, having lugs and points, substantially as and for the' purpose set forth.
3. In a barrelvholder, the combination ofthe rock-shaft or rod 1, having a fork, 9, formed at its lower end, provided with points 10lugs 7 and 8, formed on such fork, slide 11, having hooks 12,and slide 13, having arms 14,whereby said slide may be secured to the lid of the barrel, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.v
