SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 710,235, dated September 30, 1902.

Be it known that I, JAMES G. ALLEN,l a citizen of the United States, and a resident ot' Ubly, in the county of Huron and State of Michigan, have invented a new and Improved Mirror-Hanging, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to improvements in devices for hanging and supporting mirrors;

ro and an object is to provide a simple means for holding in a main frame a mirror at any desired angle or height. Y

I will describe a mirror-hanging embodying my invention and then point out the novel features in the appended claims.

in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure 1 is a rear elevation of a mirrorhanging device embodying my invention.

Referring to the drawings, l designates a main frame designed to be secured to a wall 3o or other support, and adjustable in this main frame is the mirror-holding frame 2. Having swinging connection with the upper portion of the Jframe 2 is a rock-shaft 3, havingv downwardly-turned crank portions 4, terminating in outwardly-extending portions 5, which engage in longitudinal channelsl 6, formed in the inner side of the side members of the frame l. Pins 7 extend from the lower portion of the frame 2 into said channels 6.

On the lower bar of the frame 2 is a locking device consisting of a lever 8, having a portion 9 extended at right angles thereto, the said portion 9 having bearings in lugs lO on the frame, and from the opposite end of this portion 9 the locking device extends ontward, as at Il, and then inward, as-at 12,11'01 engaging frictionally with the end surface of one of the side members of the frame 1.

In the operation the mirror may be raised 5o or lowered to any desired point by first releasing the locking device from the frame l. Obviously the mirror may be held in paral- Serial No. 101,864. (No model.)

lelism in the main frame, or it may be tilted outward by moving the parts 5 of the rockshaft 3 upward or downward relatively to the 55 mirror-frame and locking the mirror-frame by the locking device.

Attached to the lower end of the mirror frame is a tray 13 for holding toilet articles, such as brushes and combs', and on the lower 6o end of the main frame 1 is a rack 14 for receiving scraps or papers. Mounted to swing on the upper portion of the frame 1 at one side is an arm 16, on which a roller 17 for a towel is mounted, and on the opposite side is a hat-rack 18. The object in hinging the arm 16 to the frame l is to permit of said arm being swung against the back of the main frame, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 1, for convenience in transporting or packing the de- 7o vice.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A mirror-hanging comprising a main frame, the opposite side members of which are provided with slots at the-inner sides, a mirror-frame, pins extended from said mirror-frame at the lower end into said slots, a rock-shaft mounted on the back of the mir- 8o ror-frame and having crank portions extended into said slots, and a locking device carried by the mirror-frame, substantially as specilied.

2. A mirror hanging comprising a main 85 frame, the opposite side members of which .are slotted at the inner sides, a mirror-frame, pins extended from the lower portions of the mirror-frame into said slots, a rock-shaft mounted on the back of the mirror-frame 9o .near its top, the said shaft having its ends turned downward and then outward, the said outward portions engaging in said slots, and a locking-lever mounted to swing on the lower end of the mirror-frame and adapted for frictional engagement with a member of the main frame, substantially as specified.
