EZEKIEL EDGERTON AND ELMER W. EDGERTON, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO..
SPRING-BED.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 375,141, dated December 20, I887.
Application filed September 30, 1887. Serial No. 251,005. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, EZEKIEL EDGERTON and ELMER W. Enenmomboth of Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in SpringBeds, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to spring-beds; and it consists in the peculiar construction and combination of the parts,a's hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a top or plan view showing a portion of the woven-wire top broken away. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the whole spring-bed.
A A are aseries of longitudinal. wooden slats joined at each end and near their middle by cross-slats B B, which crossslats support the whole structure in the bedstead.
O G are volute springs attached to the slats A A and arejoined together at their tops by cross-wires 0 c.
D is awoven-wire fabric secured at each end to clamp-bars E E,and lies on the top of said springs G O.
F F are braceslats attached to the middle cross-slat B, their ends being secured to the bars E E.
G G are strong brace-wires having loops at their upper corners which are attached to the springs at the sides of the bed, their lower ends being secured to the slats F F.
The objects of this combination are to provide against the stretching and sagging of the woven-wire fabric, the springs G G supporting it against any undue strain and the braceslats F F serving to prevent the end bars approach ing each other, on the other hand they serve to distend them, aud thus preserve the wovenwire fabric intact, and the side braces, G' G, serving to keep the sides of the woven-wire fabric stretched.
Having described our invention, we claim as follows:
The brace-wires G G, having the loops attached to the springs O O at the sides, their lower ends secured to the slats F F, in combination with the woven-wire fabric D and the supporting slats and frame A B E, as shown and described.
