Ski edges of this kind are known. Because of the incisions running transversely to the longitudinal direction of the edge, such ski edges in comparison to nonslitted continuous ski edges have an increased extensibility in longitudinal direction of the edge.
The earliest embodiment of such extensible ski edges comprises that each incision of the one vertical flange has two respective lateral incisions correspondingly arranged at the other vertical flange. In the further development of extensible ski edges the aim was, above all, to improve extensibility as compared to the aforementioned earlier embodiments.
The object of this invention is, however, a different one, viz. while preserving sufficient extensibility to possibly prevent in production as well as in mounted condition any displacement of the sections of the vertical flange or any undesirable divergence from straight course, respectively of the vertical flange of the ski edge.
This is attained, according to the invention, in that each slit of the border branches out into at least two slits running in-opposite directions in the horizontal flange of the edge and thatthe inner longitudinal border of the ski edge has an incision opposite each slit of the vertical flange.
In order to prevent notch-effects at the ends of the branch-slits in the horizontal flange of the edge, it is advisable forthe branch-slits to end in hole-like recesses provided in the horizontal flange of the edge.
Embodiments of the invention are hereinafter described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings without being limited thereto.
FIG. 1 is a partial plan view of a ski edge according to the invention.
FIG. 2 is a cross section along line II-II of FIG. 1 and FIG. 3 is a side view in direction III.
FIGS. 4 to 8 are further embodiments, each one being plan view of sections of the ski edge according to the invention.
The ski edge according to the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 3 consists of a vertical flange 1 and a horizontal flange 3, said vertical flange I being divided in successive sections by spaced slits 2 running transversely to the longitudinal direction of the edge. Slits 2 run down through vertical flange l of the edge in lateral direction. Each slit 2 branches out in the horizontal flange of the edge, into two branch-slits 4 running in opposite directions, said branch-slits 4 having the form of elongated slots and being arranged along the line where vertical flange l and the horizontal flange 3 of the edge are adjacent. The inner longitudinal side 5 of the ski edge has an incision 6 opposite each slit 2 of the edge. The branch-slits 4 end in hole-like recesses 7, which serves to reduce the notch-effect at the ends of the branchslits.
The embodiments of the ski edges according to FIGS. 4 to 8 also consist in each case of a vertical flange l and a horizontal flange 3, said vertical flange 1 being divided in successive sections by spaced'slits 2 running transversely to the longitudinal direction of the edge. Furthermore in FIGS. 4 to 8 each slit 2 branches out into slits 4 in the leg 3 of the edge, said branch-slits running in opposite directions. What is different, however, is comparison with FIG. 1 is the form of incisions 6 cpposite slits 2 of the vertical flange as well as the form of recesses 7, in which the branch-slits 4 end. The extent of extensibility of theski edge depends on the form of the incisions 6 and recesses 7. In the embodiments according to FIGS. 5 and 7 the branch-slits 4 do not only run in longitudinal direction of the edge but also have in the case of FIG. 5 slit areas which are laterally arranged in the horizontal flange 3 of the edge and which have, in the case of FIG. 7, the form of arched slits.
Holes 9 shown in FIGS. 1, and 4-6 of thedrawings serve to receive countersunk screws. These holes 9 are dispensable in case the ski edges are not screwed on but glued onto the ski.
I claim:
1. A ski edge having a vertical flange and a horizontal flange, said vertical flange being divided into successive sections by spaced slits running transversely to the longitudinal direction of the edge, said sections of said vertical flange being connected by said horizontal flange of the edge, wherein each slit of said vertical flange branches out into at least two branches running in opposite direction s in said horizontal flange of the edge, and wherein the inner longitudinal border of said horizontal flange has an incision opposite each slit of said vertical flange, the ends of said branch-slits opening into hole-like recesses of said horizontal flange of the edge.

Claims (1)

1. A ski edge having a vertical flange and a horizontal flange, said vertical flange being divided into successive sections by spaced slits running transversely to the longitudinal direction of the edge, said sections of said vertical flange being connected by said horizontal flange of the edge, wherein each slit of said vertical flange branches out into at least two branches running in opposite direction s in said horizontal flange of the edge, and wherein the inner longitudinal border of said horizontal flange has an incision opposite each slit of said vertical flange, the ends of said branch-slits opening into holelike recesses of said horizontal flange of the edge.
