FREDERICK HAGKEY, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.

Application filed February 12, 1887. Serial No. 227.4 6.
T0 aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FREDERICK HAoKEY, of St. Louis, Missouri, have made a new and useful Improvement in Ankle-Supports, of
which the following is a full, clear, and exact perspective from the front of the support in position, and Fig. 4. is a view in perspective from the rear of the same. The last three views are upon a smaller scale.
The same letters of reference denote the same parts.

(No model.)
lower parts of these are rounded out at a and a and the upper parts at a and a, respectively, are cut at a slight incline. Thus when the device is made up for use it is adapted to fit snugly and close not only above the heel at the rear, but over the instep of the foot.
The appliance A is usually worn above the stocking B. The portion a of the appliance. which passes under the instep of the foot 0, is preferably made in one piece with the portion a, which binds the ankle. D represents the lacing used to draw the appliance into place upon the foot.
I claim- The within-described pattern for an anklesupport, consisting of the portion a, cut away at a and a, and inclined at the rear and front a and a, and having a narrow portion, a, to pass under the instep, subslai'itially as and for the purpose set forth.
