BOOT OR SHOE.
EPECIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 380,804, dated April 10, 1888.
Application filed July'afld, 1887. Serial No. 245,379. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, OMAR H. JEWELL, a citizen of the United States of Amerira,residing at Chicago, in the county ofCook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boots and Shoes, of which the following is a specification, reference beinghad therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention has for its object to provide a device for boots and shoes that will prevent them from losing their original shape from the stretching and yielding of the leather by walk' ing; and it consists in inserting between the leather of the uppers and toes and the inside lining a sheet of wire gauze or netting or of perforated or solid very thin sheet metal, previously pressed or stretched over a last to assume the desired shape, and then secured with 'the leather and lining to the welt by stitching Corresponding letters in the several figures of the drawings designate like parts.
