UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
\VILLIAM L. BRIDGEFORD, OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY.
ADJUSTABLE BLOWER FORVSTOVES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 361,809, dated April 26, 1887.
Application filed June l, 1886.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM L. This my invention relates to certainnew and useful improvements in adjustable blowers for stoves in order to assist combustion, and also for the purpose of regulating the heat of the stove more perfectly, consisting more espeeially in a blower made in form to correspond with the front opening of the stove and kept in its place by means of slides on the jambs of the stove, in which it worksloosely to permit of its being raised or lowered in regulating the draft, and is further provided with a catch hinged to the under side ofthe stove-top loosely, with the hook on the inside, and a stationary catch secured to the upper edge of theV blower, immediately under which an operating-handle is secured firmly to the blower, with lugs formed on the upper end, in which a small trigger is hinged, which engages with the hinged catch 'on the stove above in rising, and thereby disengages it from the blower and permits itto be lowered or raised at pleasure, which is done by means of a small lifter, L, which slips over the end of the handle.
The object of this my invention is to pro-.
vide an adjustable blower for stoves that will be neat, cheap, durable, and more ornamental and convenient in use than the ordinary blowers now 1n common use.

ings, with ornamental openings E E, filled e with mica or other material.
F F are the slides on the jambs ofthe stove, in which the blower D works up and down, and G is a small operating-handle secured to the front of the blower, and H is a small trigger hinged in the upper part thereof for the purpose of disengaging the catch I from the stationary catch J on the blower when raised, which is done by means of a small lifter, which takes hold ofthe handle G in raising theblower, and by means of the same lifter L the trigger II is raised, which disengages the catch I and permits the blower to be lowered, and by the same lifter it is raised again, and by means of 7o the automatic catches remains in position until lowered again. Therefore W hat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent in adjustable blowers for stoves, is
The combination of the stationary front, the hinged catch I, the movable blower D, the catch J, trigger H, and hinged lifter L, substantial] y as described, and for the purpose set forth.
