Description
(I Io Model.)
. A. S. NEWBY.
' I STOVE. N0. 351,64 I Patented Oct. 26, 1886.
aw b1 M Attorneys ,UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT S. NEWBY, OF NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE.
Y sTovE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 351,648, dated October 26, 1886.
Application filed August 10, 1885. Serial No. 174,021. (No model.)
To all whom itmay concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT S. NEwBY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nashville, in the county of Davidson and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves; and I do declare tion of a vertical section taken on the line a: :12,
Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section line 1/ 1 Fig. 1.
This invention relates to stoves; and it conon the sists in the constructionand novel'comb'ination of parts, as will be hereinafter-fully de scribed, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings,'A designates the sheet-iron bottom plate of the stove, and B is the stove casing or shell, which is also of sheet-iron, except the top plate, 0, which is of cast-iron.
D designates the fire-pot, E the grate, and F the ash-pan.
G designates the oven, and H I J 'K are the vertical and-horizontal flues which surround the fire-pot, ash-pan, and oven, and connect with the exit-flue L, so that the draft is from the fire-pot over the oven, down in rear of the oven, beneath the oven and ash-pan,and up along the side of the ash-pan and fire-pot to the exit-flue P.
The stove-feet employed in this connection are the ordinary stove-feet, which can be applied and removed at will. The base-flange Q is of cast-iron, and is secured in placeby bolts Q. The cast top plate is also provided with a flange, which'is employed to ornament the design.v r
At each corner of the base of the stove is a plate, R, which is secured to the base-plate by bolts Q,and these corner-plates It are secured in place by the same bolts, Q, that fasten the corners to the flanges.
The top of the store is fastened down by short bolts or rivets, in the usual manner.
Having thus fully described my invention,
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, in a stove, of the sheetmetal body having the outwardly-extending flanges at its upper and lower edges, the sheetmetal bottom secured to the lower flanges of the body, the cast-metal top secured to the upper flanges of the body, the basemolding secured to the lower flanges by the same rivets that unite the body to the bottom, the oven, firebox, ash-box, and acontinuoushot-airflue, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALBERT S, NEWBY.
