UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANTON BOEKER, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
WICQKER CASE FOR BOTTLES.
, SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 351,486, dated October 26, 1886. Application filed January 25, 1886. Serial No. 189,692. (ModcL) for Bottles, &c., of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, and in which-- Figure l is a front View with parts broken out. Fig. 2 is a vertical section at 2 2, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section at 3 3, Fig. 1. Fig. A is a bottom view.
This is a wicker case to contain bottles, &c.,
which can be removed from the case.
A is the bottom, which I prefer to make of wood. Beneath the bottom pass two wires, B O, at right angles to each other, said wires beingpreferably let into the bottom and held by the staples D These wiresBand O are carried up to the top of the body E, beside or in place of four of the ribs F, upon which the wickerwork of willow or other material, G, is woven. The upper ends of these wires are turned over the upper edge of the body, forming loops or eyes I), b, and 0, respectively. The loop or eye 1) forms the lower member of the hinge by which the lid H is connected to the body, the
uppervmember, t, of the hinge being formed upon one end of the wire I, which forms one of the ribs, passing through the apex of the lid and to the front edge, where it is formed into a loop, constituting the hasp i, and which engages over a loop, 1), formed in the wire B.
Thus it will be seen that when the hasp is engaged on the loop I) there is continuous wireconnection around the case, beneath the bottom, and over the apex of the lid by means of the wires B and I. The wires 0 haveformed on them loops 0, constituting ears, to which are connected the ends of the bail J, so that there is continuous wire-connection around the bail and beneath the bottom of the case by the wires J and O. The bail has a handle, J.
K is a bottle contained in the case. At L are springs or soft pads upon which the bottle rests. These springs may be composed of spiral wire, as shown in Fig. 2, or of some solid elastic substance-such as cork or india-rubberas shown in Fig. 8.
M is a padlock, by which the lid may be made fast.
I claim as my invention- 1. A case consisting of a body, E, of wickerwork, bottom A, lid H, of wicker-work, wire B, threaded through the body and under the bottom, having a loop, b, near the top of the body, and eyes b I) turned over the body, wire I, threaded through the lid, having an eye, a, threaded through the eye I) and turned under the lid, and a loop,- 6, receiving the loop 11 substantially as shown and described.
2. A case consisting of a body, E, of wickerwork, solid bottom A,wire B, threaded through the body and under the bottom, having aloop, b near the top of the body, and eyes I) b turned over the body, wire 0, at right angles to the wire B, threaded through the body and under the bottom, having ears 0' a formed therein near the top of the body, and eyes 0 c ANTON BOEKER'.
