Description
Dec. 9, 1969 R. c. TUCKER 3,482,796
TOILET PAPER HOLDER Filed Sept. 28. 196? IN V EN TOR.
/2 Ray C. Tucker United States Patent 3,482,796 TOILET PAPER HOLDER Roy C. Tucker, 1306 W. South Ave., Independence, Mo. 46052 Filed Sept. 28, 1967, Ser. No. 671,423 Int. Cl. B6511 19/02 US. Cl. 24255.2 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A toilet paper holding device which serves the dual purpose of being a shelf and a paper roll holder. This device is of such structure so as to be secured to a wall or other surface by screws or other fasteners through a back member secured to a horizontal shelf member. The shelf member also has a vertical support member to which is attached a dowel for receiving a roll of paper and a pivotable disk secured to the dowel is eccentrically mounted to the end of the dowel so that it will prevent the roll of paper from sliding off the dowel.
This invention relates to bathroom devices, and more particularly to a combination shelf and toilet paper holder.
It is therefore the main purpose of this invention to provide a toilet paper holder which will be mounted to the wall or a surface by means of a pair of fasteners and will serve a dual purpose by being a shelf upon which a box of tissues or other object may be placed, as well as serving to support and retain a roll of paper.
Other objects of this invention are to provide a toilet paper holder which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will become readily apparent upon a study of the following specification together with the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a front view of the present invention;
FIGURE 2 is a right end view of the device shown in FIGURE 1 but removed from the wall;
FIGURE 3 is an enlarged bottom plan view of the invention shown in FIGURE 1; and
FIGURE 4 is a right end view of FIGURE 1.
According to this invention, a toilet paper holder is provided with a rectangular shelf member 11 to which is attached a rectangular back member 12 having a pair of spaced apart openings 13 in which screws 14 or other fasteners will secure holder 10 to wall 15. A vertical support members 16 at right angles to back member 12 is secured to the bottom of shelf member 11 and to an end of back member 12 and thus provides additional support for shelf member 11 as well as serving to mount an elongated dowel member 17. Dowel member 17 receives a roll of paper 18 and the end of dowel 17 is provided with an eccentrically mounted disk 19 which serves to retain the roll of paper 18 and keep it from sliding off of dowel 17 when it is being used or unrolled. The shelf member 11 serves to hold a box of tissues or other articles.
In use, paper holder 10 is secured to wall 15 by means of screws 14 and the roll of paper 18 is placed upon the dowel 17 by sliding it over the disk 19. The dowel 17 is of such diameter that sufiicient space within the roll of paper 18 allows the eccentrically mounted disk 19 to extend outwardly across the circumferance of the opening within the roll of paper and thus toilet paper 18 cannot accidentally slide outward and away from dowel 17 unless desired. The roll of paper 18 can be removed from dowel 17 by merely lifting slightly upwards and sliding it outwards over the eccentrically mounted disk 19.
It will be noted that all the components that comprise toilet paper holder 10 may be made of any desired material.
While various changes may be made in the detailed construction, it is understood that such changes will be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as is defined by the appended claim.
What I now claim is:
1. A toilet paper holder, comprising in combination, a horizontal shelf, a vertically extending, transverse support on the underside of said shelf, a rectangular back member on the under side of said shelf and adjacent one side of said vertical support, said rectangular back member being parallel and adjacent a rear edge of said shelf, said rectangular back member having a plurality of mounting openings therethrough for receiving mounting screws for securement to a vertical wall, and said vertical support carrying a horizontally extending dowel mounted at one end in said vertical support, the opposite end of said dowel having an enlarged head, said dowel serving to support a roll of toilet tissue.
