Description

Jan. 20, 1953 c, CROSBY 2,626,119
Box HOLDER Filed Aug. 18, 1947 9 ZSnnentor Patented Jan. 20, 1953 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE BOX HOLDER Clarence Lyman Crosby, Berwyn, 111.
Application August 18, 1947, Serial No. 769,194 1 Claim. (01. 248-302) This invention relates to holders for tissue dispensing cartons, and has for its principal object the provision of a holder constructed from a single piece of wire, and so formed as to utilize the inherent spring of the material for holding the carton firmly in place.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device as described constructed with an integral spring mounting bracket, enabling the holder and carton to be detachably mounted on the sun visor of an automobile, on the robe rail, or similar places as may be deemed desirable.
The above and other objects residing in the novel features of construction of my improved holder will become apparent during the course of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, forming a part hereof and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my holder showing an enclosed carton in phantom.
Figure 2 is an end elevation of the device shown on Figure 1.
Referring to the drawing in detail, a tissue carton C, with a dispensing slot S in the front side thereof, is shown in phantom, mounted in the holder which is formed from a single piece of wire, formed as shown and described herein, and being constructed without any fixed joints or at tachments of any kind.
The carton is restrained from endwise displacement by means of hooks 5, the weight is supported by cross members 6, and the carton is held down in place by cross members 1 extending across and contacting the top thereof. The back of the carton is held by the vertical portions 8, while angled portions 9 contact the front side of the carton, at the corners thereof, and hold the carton firmly in place without interfering with the accessibility of the tissue dispensing slot S.
A bracket l0, which is adapted to be sprung away from the back of the carton C, as shown on Figure 2, completes the holder.
Cross members I terminate in hooks II, which detachably engage the upper ends of the vertical portions 8, and lock the holder in place on a carton. The hooks l l are disengaged to enable removal and replacement of cartons. By means of the bracket 10, the holder and its enclosed carton can be mounted on towel rails, automobile robe rails, sun visors and numerous other places which will suggest themselves to users of the device.
While I have disclosed a simple embodiment of my holder, it should be realized that minor modifications may be made in the design, such as straightening the angle portions 9, and carrying them diagonally across the front corners of the carton. I therefore do not wish to be limited to the exact form as illustrated, but only to the extent as covered .by the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
A holder for a tissue dispensing carton and having a. dispensing slot in the front wall thereof, said holder comprising a length of wire bent to form two bottom supports, two top crossmembers; two back members and two front members adapted to contact the bottom, top back and front of said carton respectively, said front members being bent outwardly so as to afford free access to the dispensing slot and to contact the sides of said carton, each of said top cross-members having a hook on the end thereof, engaging the back member, said hooks being adapted to be disengaged from said top cross-members for the purpose of insertion or removal of said carton.
CLARENCE LYMAN CROSBY.
