As a general rule a brush used for cleaning the pans of water closets is placed in an open receptacle to receive drips and is either left stand ing in the closet, which is unsightly as well as unhygienic, or alternatively it has to be carried away, with its receptacle, to some other place for storage purposes. The object of the present invention is to provide a cabinet which will obviate these disadvantages.
According to this invention the box-like body of a cabinet is hinged to a back plate which may be secured against a wall, the interior of the body is arranged for the suspension therein over a removable drip receiving tray, of a pan cleaning brush, and the front of the body is apertured to permit the withdrawal of toilet paper therefrom.
Preferably means are provided within the front of the body of the cabinet to support, in rear of the aperture in said front, either a roll of toilet paper or a pack of toilet sheets, e. g. folded and interleaved in a known manner which enables the withdrawal of one sheet to cause the leading edge of the succeeding sheet to protrude so that it may be grasped readily. Preferably also the interior of the cabinet body is provided with one or more shelves on which bottles or tins of disinfectant, cleansing powder or the like may be placed, whilst there may be provided also a hook for the suspension of a cleaning towel. If desired, the cabinet may have as exterior fittings a looking glass, ash tray and/ or like accessories.
A convenient form of cabinet is illustrated by the accompanying drawings in which Figures 1 and 2 are, respectively, a front and a rear perspective view showing the cabinet open; Figure 3 is a rear View, also showing the cabinet open; Figure 4 is a similar view to Figure 3, but shows accessories in position; and Figure 5 is a section on the line 5-5, Figure 4.
As shown, a box-like body a is hinged to a backplate formed with holes 0 for the passage of screws to enable the fitting to be secured in a convenient poslton against a wall. The boxlike body a is substantially an elongated parallelepipedon, its top d being downwardly and forwardly sloped and fitted with a mirror e. Inside the top d there is provided a hook f for the suspension of a closet cleaning brush 9 (Figures 4 and 5) and at the bottom of the body a is located a removable tray h to receive drips from the brush 9. The front 7' 0f the body a is formed with an aperture is for the withdrawal of toilet paper and below the aperture 70 there is provided an ash receptacle m. This receptacle, as illustrated, is in the form of a segment of a sphere 2 having an opening at the top and mounted on the front 7' of the body a. That side of the body a remote from the hinge has secured thereto a handle n to enable said body easily to be swung back on its hinge, a bowed spring clip 0 being mounted on said side and a round-or-li'keheaded projection p being mounted on the back plate I) to hold the body a in its closed position. Both sides of the body are perforated as at q for ventilation purposes. r is a flanged shelf within the body a on which bottles or tins of dis infectant, cleansing powder or the like may be placed and s is a hook provided near the top of the back plate 11 for the suspension of a cleaning towel 12 (Figures 4 and 5).
In order that, at the desire of the user, toilet paper in the form of a toilet roll or a pack of toilet sheets may be located in the body a opposite the aperture k, there is secured to the inside of the front 1' a dual purpose holder consisting of a frame having at its sides lugs uu formed with downwardly and forwardly inclined slots to to receive pintles on the ends of a Wooden roller which may be passed through a toilet roll in a well known manner, the inclination of the slots 2w ensuring that, by gravity, the toilet roll will always assume the most forward position possible, whilst in order, alternatively, to support a pack of toilet sheets the frame has a rearwardly extending top w and bottom a: formed with downwardly and upwardly extending flanges, and a respectively, the depth of the flange y being greater than that of the flange z the distance between the bottom of the flange y and the top of the flange a being less, and the height between the top w and bottom a: being greater, than the height of a pack, so that the top of the pack may be introduced between said flanges, the pack raised until its lower part will pass over the top of the flange z, after which the lower part of the pack is pushed forwardly and allowed to drop in front of the flange z, whereafter the pack will be restrained against rearward movement by the flanges y and z.
Inasmuch as a cabinet in accordance with this invention may be secured, in a convenient position, to the Wall of a water closet it follows that all accessories required for cleansing purposes are ready at hand stored in a hygienic manner without unsightly exposure, thus obviating transportation from one place to another. It is to be understood that, if desired, disinfectant, scented germicidal preparation or the like may be placed in the removable tray h or on the shelf 1' or on an additional shelf or suitable container located 3 within the body a; it is also to be understood that any desired accessories other than the mirror 6 and ash receptacle m may be mounted outside the body a.
I claim:
A compact sanitary cabinet of easily portable construction comprising a box-like body elongated in the vertical direction having a top, front, sides, bottom and an open back, a backplate for said body hinged thereto along one of its vertical edges and adapted to be secured against a. wall, an aperture in said front, said body providing space for mounting accessories above and below said aperture, and dual-purpose means extending backward from said aperture into the space within said body having structure for supporting toilet paper in roll form and structure serviceable alternatively for supporting toilet paper in pack form, said means including backwardly extending laterally spaced lugs having inclined alined slots adapted to receive pintles on the ends of a roller holding such paper in roll form and including top and bottom ledges spaced vertically apart so as to receive therebetween either a roll or an interleaved pack of such paper, said top and bottom ledges having flanges extending downwardly and upwardly, respectively, in back of such pack 5 when the latter is supported on the bottom ledge.
