DAUBlNG-BRUSH.
.PECIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 346,662, dated August 3, 1886.
Application filed May 14, 1885. Serial No.1ti5A54. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, DAVID G. LAWRENCE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Daubing- Brush, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to certain improvementsin that class ofdaubing brnshesin which the bristle-block is pivoted, so as to revolve when in use, for the purpose of avoiding uneven wear of the bristles; and the invention will first be described, and then pointed out specifically in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved dauloer, and Fig. 2 is a. sectional view on the line 00 x of Fig. l.
A represents a handlethe head B of which is circularly recessed, as shown at a, and notched, as at b. A bolt, 0, is secured to the head B, and extends down through the center of the recess a. The circular brush-block G has bristles D, and fits within the recess a, and revolves on the bolt 0, which is provided with nuts (1, for holding the brush-block in place. The lower edge of the brush-block is provided with an annular flange, e, which extends to the outer edge of the head B, for the purpose of preventing blacking, dirt, 850., from getting into the recess a andpreventing it from revolving. There will be no strain on the bolt 0, as the walls of the recess a prevent any lateral movement of the brush-blocl Having described my invention. what Iclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
1. The combination, with the handle having a circular recess in its face at one end, of the circular brush-block having bristles and pivotally secured in said recess to revolve therein, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with the handle having a circular recess in its face at one end, of a circular brush-block pivotally secured in said recess to revolve therein, and provided with an annular flange around its lower outer edge, extending beyond the recess, to prevent the entrance of matter therein, substantially as set forth.
