Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a servicing arrangement for spinning machines, and more particularly to an arrangement for independently inspecting and servicing individual spinning units of a spinning machine.
  • Known spinning machines comprise a series of spinning units, each of which includes a rotary spinning chamber, feeding and combing means for feeding a sliver into the rotary spinning chamber, and a discharge channel through which the finished yarn is withdrawn.
  • Spinning devices in which the fibers are combed out by a rotating combing roller and transported into the rotary spinning chamber have the disadvantage that if a spinning device becomes clogged by fibers, the spinning chamber, the combing roller and the inlet and discharge channels are not readily accessible so that the respective spinning unit must be disassembled in a time consuming and difiicult operation.
  • Another machine for continuous spindleless spinning is known in which a plurality of spinning units is arranged in a row on a machine frame, and where feed rollers are provided for the supply of the slivers, and drawoif rollers for withdrawing the finished yarn from the spinning chambers.
  • the drive means for the rotary spinning chambers, combing rollers, feeding rollers and drawoff rollers include a main shaft or shafts extending along the row of spinning units and driving all rotary elements of the spinning units simultaneously.
  • the feed rollers are connected with a drive means by separate couplings, controlled by sensing means which sense an improper operation, so that the feed rollers of the several units can be individually stopped in the event of a yarn breakage.
  • the rotary spinning chamber, and other rotary spinning means continue to rotate even after the supply of the sliver by the feed roller has been stopped and if it becomes necessary to clean one spinning unit, or more particularly its spinning chamber, the inlet or discharge channels, or to repair a spinning unit, it is not possible to individually disengage the respective spinning unit from the drive means, and it is necessary to stop the entire machine and all spinning units, while one spinning unit is being serviced or repaired resulting in a reduced output and economic losses.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide a spinning machine in which each spinning unit can be individually separated from the common drive means of the spinning machine so that, while one spinning unit is being serviced, the other spinning units continue to operate.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide a spinning unit having first and second parts, each of which includes spinning means, and to mount the parts movable between separated and operative positions so that the spinning means are fully accessible when the two parts of a unit are separated.
  • Another object of the invention is to automatically separate the spinning means of each unit from the drive means of the machine when the above-mentioned two parts of the spinning unit are separated for the purpose of 3,375,649 Patented Apr. 2., 1968 having access to the spinning means, so that the spinning means are automatically stopped when placed in a position suitable for servicing.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide a spinning unit comprising two parts one of which carries a rotary spinning chamber and the other of which carries a separator having a discharge passage coinciding with the axis of rotation of the spinning chamber in the normal working position of the spinning unit, while upon separation of the two parts of the spinning unit, the separator and discharge passage are located outside of the spinning chamber and spaced from the same so that the spinning chamber and the discharge passage can be cleaned.
  • a spinning unit comprises first and second supports, first rotary spinning means mounted on the first support for rotation about a first axis, and second spinning means mounted on the second support and having a second axis.
  • the first and second supports are mounted on a frame for movement between two positions for moving the first and second spinning means between a normal working position in which the axes of the first and second spinning means coincide and the same cooperate in a spinning operation, and an inoperative position in which the first and second spinning means are separated and accessible for inspection and service.
  • the first and second supports are mounted on the frame of the machine for angular movement about parallel hinge axes.
  • the first spinning means includes the rotary spinning chamber
  • the second spinning means includes a part, such as a separator having a central discharge passage, located in the spinning chamber in the working position of the spinning unit, but moving out of the spinning chamber in the inoperative position of the unit where both the spinning chamber and the separator are accessible.
  • drive means such as belts
  • Each spinning unit includes rotary spinning means, and coupling means, such as a pulley, connected with the spinning means for rotation.
  • the pulleys engage the belts of the drive means so that the spinning means are coupled withthe .drive means and are driven.
  • any spinning units requires inspection or servicing, it is moved to an inoperative position in which the pulley, or other coupling means, is separated from the drive means so that the spinning means do not rotate and are at rest. In this manner, each unit can be inde endently serviced, without disturbing the continued operation of the spinning means of all other units of the machine.
