MATILDA STOCKER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PATTERN-LINING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 337.030, dated March 2. l1886.
Application filed August 13, 1885. Serial No. 174,249. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom t may concern,.-
Be it known that I, MATILDA STOGKER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pattern-Linings, of which the following is a specication.
llhis invention relates to an improved pattern-lining for ladies dresses, by which a hetter fit of the dress at the bust and waist is obtained and the wrinkles at the waist obviated; and the invention consists of a pattern-lining the front section of which is cut with a narrow dart and with a dart of considerably greater width than the narrow dart and dit'- fers in shape, as hereinaiter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l represents a front view of the front section of a pattern-lining as heretofore in use. Fig. 2 is a front view of the front section of my improved pattern-lining; Fig. 3, a front view of the front section as stitched together.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the front section of my improved pattern-lining for ladies7 dresses or garments. The front section, A, is cnt with a narrow dart, a, and with a second dart, b, of about four times the width of the narrow dart a, and approximates in shape that of a wedge. When the parts of the front. section, A, are put together, the
side part, A', of the same is connected on the than that obtained by the patterns heretofore in use is produced. The strain on the fabric of the lining and of the garment cut from the lining is thereby not exerted ina transverse direction to the fabric, but on a bias to the waist-line, whereby the formation of wrinkles at the waist is prevented.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A bust and waist pattern-lining, the front section of which is provided with two darts, one being several times wider than the other, the narrow dart a being the same width at the waist-line and the bottom of the pattern and narrower between said points, the dart b being wider between the waist-line and the bottom and nearly wedge shape, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing@ my invention I have signed my name in pres\-\ ence of two subscribing witnesses.
MATILDA STOOKER. Witnesses:
