Definitions

  • a bath for treating textiles is provided by means of an apparatus having a container for the bath and separate supply containers for the bath components.
  • the supply containers being connected with the bath by magnetic throttle valves and having level indicators provided with float valves.
  • This invention relates to an apparatus for producing treating baths for textiles and refers more particularly to an apparatus for producing treating baths which are made up of different components.
  • the invention is especially concerned with an apparatus producing baths composed of dilferent separate components which easily decompose when mixed, the mixing of such components taking place shortly before the bath is transmitted to the device applying it to the textiles.
  • An object of the present invention is to eliminate these prior art drawbacks.
  • Another object is to provide an extensive automatisation of bath production and to make readily available fresh baths of the desired consistency.
  • level containers with float valves can be provided between the supply containers and the throttle valves in front of discharging funnels directed to the main reserve container; a swinging outflow conduit can be so arranged that a specific component of the mixture can be directed at will either into one of the funnels or into a measuring container, so that the ratio of the individual components of the solution can be always controlled.
  • each reserve container for a specific component of the bath can be provided with a separate transmitting pump, preferably a displacement pump, whereby a bath component can be directed by a pump either back into the container through a volume measuring device, or into a mixing funnel.
  • a separate transmitting pump preferably a displacement pump
  • valves can be provided between the pressure conduits of the pumps and the mixing funnel. By means of these valves a certain amount of each liquid can be always returned into its container, so that no inadmissible rises in pressure can take place.
  • FIGURE 1 is a diagram illustrating a unit wherein the basic adjustment of the separate amounts of the components takes place prior to the operational use of the bath.
  • FIGURE 2 is a diagram illustrating an improved unit which makes it possible to control the amounts of the separate components during the operational use as well.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 show by way of example devices used for producing a rewashing solution containing two com ponents, namely, an alkali with a stabilizer and peroxide.
  • these components can be preserved for any desired lengthy time periods.
  • a noticeable decomposition takes place after a short time even at room temperature. Consequently, only small amounts of the prepared solution are kept in the supply container 16 (FIGS. 1 and 2).
  • the automatic preparation of the treating solution takes place in the following manner:
  • the apparatus shown in FIG. 1 has two supply con tainers 10. Each container 10 communicates with a funnel-shaped level container 18 containing a float valve 19 whichalways provides the same initial pressure in front of a throttle valve 11 connected with the container 18, the pressure being independent from the amount of liquid in the container 10. Each valve 11 is connected with a magnetic valve 12. The magnetic valves 12 are connected with a time contact switch 26 which can be set to a selected contact time.
  • one container 10 may be filled with NaOH while the other container 10 may be filled with peroxide.
  • the liquids flow into the funnel-shaped levelindicating containers 18 having float valves 19.
  • the throttle valves 11 and the magnetic valves 12 provide that depending upon the position of the throttle valves and the set contact time, predetermined amounts of liquids flow into the measuring containers 21 through the swingable outlets 20.
  • the throttle valve 11 for the peroxide is so set depending upon the desired mixing ratio of the two components that during the time period set by the time contact switch the amount of. the outflowing peroxide will be either a fraction or a multiple of the outflowing NaCI-l amount.
  • the total amounts of the two components must jointly be always greater thanthe maxim-um amount transmitted by the dosing pump 27.
  • FIG. 2 shows a mixture preparing apparatus which is further improved in that it makes possible the control of the amounts of the separate components being mixed during operation as well.
  • the apparatus includes the supply containers for the two components.
  • Pumps 22 transmit the two liquids the amounts of which have been determined by throttle valves 11, through measuring screens 23 and three-way magnetic valves 12 either into a mixing container 14 or back into the separate containers 10.
  • the measuring devices 23 are connected with flow meters 24 which indicate the flowing amounts of the liquids and thus provide a control; when the flows are below a minimum amount or above a maximum amount they actuate optical and/or acoustic warning signals (not shown).
  • the mixed liquids flow from the container 14 into the container 16.
  • the float switch 17 supplies current to the magnetic valves 12 whereupon the two pumps 22 will supply predetermined amounts of the two liquids to the mixing container .14 from which the mixture will flow into the supply container 16.
  • the float valve 17 is switched off and the magnetic valves 12' return to the initial position. The mixture is pumped into the impregnating apparatus in the usual manner.
  • a separate supply container for each component, said supply containers having outlets, throttle valves, means connecting said throttle valves with said outlets, magnetic valve means connected with said throttle valves, a bath-receiving container, a float valve in said bath-receiving container, means connecting said magnetic valve means with said float valve, and means connected with said magnetic valve means for supplying said components to said bath-receiving container, wherein the first-mentioned means comprise funnel-shaped level-indicating containers communicating with the out-lets of said supply containers and having outlets communicating with said throttle valves, and a separate float valve in each funnel-shaped level-indicating container.
  • An apparatus in accordance with claim 2 further comprising a separate measuring container located close to each funnel, each of said outlet conduits being swingable between a measuring container and a tunnel to transmit a bath component either to a funnel or to a measuring container.
  • first-mentioned means comprise pumps communicating with the outlets of said supply containers and said throttle valves and wherein the means supplying said components to said mixing container include measuring devices and branch conduits transmitting said components either to said mixing container or back to their supply containers.
  • An apparatus for treating textiles with a bath having a plurality of components comprising at least two supply containers adapted to be filled with different liquid components and having outlets, two throttle valves, means connecting each throttle valve with the outlet of a separate container, a separate magnetic valve operatively connected with and actuating each throttle valve, a bath-receiving container, a float valve in said bath-receiving container, means operatively connecting said float valve with said magnetic valves, and means connected with said magnetic valves for supplying said components to said bath-receiving container.
