No. 330,480. Patented Nov. 17, 1885'.
[n Mani W.
NITEI); STATES 'ELIJ AH HARRIS, 6F PRINCETON, ILLINOIS.
BOOT-JACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 330,480, dated November 17, 1885.
Application filed June 1, 1885. Serial No. 167,232. (No model.) I
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ELIJAH HARRIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Princeton, in the county of Bureau-and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boot-Jacks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of the specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view. 7 Fig. 2 is a top view.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation.
The jack consists of a frame mounted on legs, the forward part or portion of which, receiving the foot of the boot, being in a plane below the other portion.
The back part of the jack is made large enough for one foot to stand on, and in the front part a hole is made large enough for the foot of the boot to pass through. I construct it so as to hold the boot while the foot is being drawn out, and while one foot is standing on the back part of it.
Letter B represents the hole to pass the foot of the boot through, which, after passing through, should be drawn back to part marked 0 O,which represents the back part of the hole, (indicated by letter 13,) and should be made to fit well onto the counter of a boot.
Letter D represents the front part of the hole, which holds the boot while one foot is on 5 the back part of the jack to hold it down.
E represents the legs, which should be long enough to let the foot of the boot passthrough the hole. (Represented by letter B.) I make the legs from two to three inches long.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A boot -jack constructed as represented, having the hole B to pass the foot or boot through, provided with the rear elevated portion, 0, to come up on the counter of the boot, and the front part, D, to hold'the toe of the boot while the foot is drawn out, all substantially as described.
ELIJ AH HARRIS.
