TRANSLUCENT PICTURE-CANDY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 328,867, dated October 20, 1885.
(Specimens) To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN J.VAN LEEUWEN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain Improvements in Translucent Picture-Candy, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide, as an article of manufacture, plates of candy having characters or figures indented in one side thereof, so that when the candy is held up to the light the character or figure will appear in shaded lines.
In carrying out this invention, I take thin plates or sheets of pure white candy, about one-eighth of an inch being a suitable thickness for the plate, and in one side thereof I form recesses or indentations which have any desired arrangement and depth. The mate rial being translucent, when it is held. up to the light between the eyes of the observer and the source of light some light will pass through the material.
