Description

June 28, 1966 GRAFTON 7 3,258,238
HOLDER FOR A BOX OF TISSURE OR THE LIKE Filed April 21, 1964 United States Patent 3,258,238 HOLDER FUR A BQX 0F TISSUES OR THE LIKE Robert A. Grafton, RD. 2, Box 114, Leeehburg, Pa. Filed Apr. 21, 1964, Ser. No. 361,389 5 Claims. Cl. 248-311) This invention relates to devices for attachment to a vehicle and more particularly to a device for dispensing tissues and the like.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a tissue box holder which will be secured in the automobile or other vehicle to permit easy accessibility of tissues.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a tissue box holder which will not obstruct accessibility to other equipment, nor will it hamper vision to the occupants of the vehicle.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a holder which will receive a box of tissues or napkins in an inverted manner to allow the user only to reach upwardly to grasp the tissue and pulling downward.
A still further object of the present invention is to provide a tissue box holder which will retain a box of tissues or napkins in such a manner that when the tissues are exhausted, the box may be easily removed from within the device and replaced with a new one.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a tissue box holder bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and efficient in operation and use.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a side view of the present invention shown in operative use; and
FIGURE 2 is a perspective view of the invention showing the tissue box removed therefrom.
Referring now more in detail to the drawing, a tissue box holder made in accordance with the present invention is shown to include an elongated L-shaped base 12 made of thin gauge stainless steel or other similar material. A Z-shaped member 14 is welded to base 12 and is made of material similar to base 12 and provides a means for slidably receiving a tissue box 18 from which tissues 20 may be dispensed. Lip 21 and lip 21a of base 12 and member 14 respectively, retain tissue box 18 within opening 16 of holder 10. A plurality of spot welds 22 secure the Z-shaped member 14 to base 12 and a plurality of spaced apart openings 24 through base 12 provide means for receiving screw fasteners 26 which secure holder 10 to window frame 28.
In use, the end of base 12 receiving screw fasteners 26 through openings 24 may be bent so that the extremity of base 12 lies along the seeing area of the vehicle and tissue box 18 is slidably received within opening 16 of holder 10. In order to remove a tissue 20, it is grasped with the hand from within box 18 and pulled downward.
It shall be noted that holder 10 will adapt to all vehicles without obstructing equipment or sight.
It shall further be noted that the holder construction may be varied to accommodate large or small boxes of tissues or napkins.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
What I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. A tissue box holder comprising, in combination, an elongated L-shaped base providing mounting means for said holder Within a vehicle, a Z-shaped member having one short leg, and a longer leg secured to said base to provide opening means for slidably receiving a box of tissues which will dispense tissues from the underside of said holder without obstructing equipment or vision.
2. The combination according to claim 1 wherein said Z-shaped member is spot-welded to said base with its short leg forming lip means which in conjunction with a spaced away lip of said L-shaped base, provides an opening of rectangular configuration to slidably receive a box of tissues.
3. The combination according to claim 2 wherein an end of said base extending beyond said Z-shaped member is provided with a plurality of spaced apart openings to receive screw fasteners for securing said holder to the upper window frame or other area within a vehicle.
4. The combination according to claim 3 wherein said end of said base extending beyond said Z-shaped member and receiving said screw fasteners through said openings is arcuately bent to conform and lay Within the inside roof covering, thus angularly positioning said tissue box for easy accessibility for dispensing said tissues from within said tissue box.
5. The combination according to claim 3 wherein said lip of said base and said lip of said Z-shaped member secured to said base are oppositely opposed to each other and form slot means parallel with the slot in the tissue box to provide means for dispensing tissues easily from said holder.
