Thisinvention relates to article holders for sunv visors of automobiles.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an article holder which is adapted to mount thereon a box of disposable tissues and which may be easily and readily mounted on the sun visor of an automobile as well as a multiplicity of other places, for example on door knobs, drawer handles and in fact anywhere.
It is another object of the present invention to provide an article holder of the above type which includes means for supporting thereon paper bags in a novel manner.
Other objects of the invention are to provide an article holder bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture, and efficient in use.
For other objects and a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a preferred embodiment of the invention in operative use on a sun visor for supporting a box of disposable tissues;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the invention shown alone and with the rear flap in a raised position and showing a paper bag supported therebelow;
Fig. 3 is a front elevational view of the invention shown being supported by a permanent magnet forming a part thereof; and
Fig. 4 is a vertical sectional view through the device.
Referring now more in detail to the drawing, indicates generally the interior of a car having the usual sun visor 11 mounted on the bracket 12, substantially as illustrated.
In the practice of my invention, an article holder is provided which may be easily mounted on the sun visor 11 and includes a front rectangular wall 13 of cardboard or suitable material having a pair of rectangular cutouts 14 which are separated by a rectangular flap 15 integrally formed along the fold line 16, the lower edge of the flap 15 extending downwardly below the lower edge of the cutouts 14. A pair of triangular flaps 17 are integrally formed along the fold lines 18 and are separated from the flap 15 by the cuts 19. A box of disposable tissues indicated generally at 20 is glued or otherwise secured to the outer face of the panel 13 below the flaps 17, the flaps 17 being separated by the rectangular cutout 21.
An intermediate rectangular flap or panel 22 of cardboard or other suitable material of the same size and shape as the panel 13 is secured to the latter along the upper longitudinal edge thereof and is provided with a window 23 of trapezoidal shape through which the flaps 17 and 15 of the front panel 13 are visible (Fig. 2). The intermediate panel 22 is secured along its lower vertical edges to the lower vertical edges of the front panel 13 by means of the ends 24 of a strap 26 (Fig. 3) and is provided along its upper vertical edges with the cutouts 25 to facilitate the separation of the panels. The strap 26 of cardboard or other suitable material has its opposite ends 24 secured to the lower vertical edges of the panels 22 I and 13 and is adapted to hold said panels together and also hold on the inner face thereof a paper bag 27.
A rear rectangular panel 28 of cardboard or other suitable material is integrally connected along its upper edge to the upper edges of the intermediate panel 22 and front panel 13 by means of the tape 29 or other suitable construction and is provided with a trapezoidal shaped window 30 adapted to be aligned with the window 23 of the intermediate panel. The flap or panel 28 at its lower end is provided with the tape 31 having adhesive 32 on the inner face thereof which may be'secured to the front panel 13 to secure between the intermediate panel 22 and rear panel 28 a plurality of square shaped bags. The tape 31 may also be employed to support the rear panel 28 on a bar and to hold a tissue box over a two-bracketed sun visor of a sport car.
The front panel 13 below tape 29 is provided with an elongated slot 33 aligned with corresponding slots 34 and 35 provided in the intermediate panel 22 and rear panel 28 respectively and through which passes a flexible support 36 secured therein by the looped portion 37 thereof. A suction cup 38 is mounted at the upper end of the strap 36 on one face thereof while a permanent magnet 39 is mounted on the other face. By means of this construction, the holder may be thus suspended from any surface-glass, metal or otherwiseby means of using either the suction cup 38 or the magnet 39. A button 40 is mounted on the strap below the magnet and is adapted to cooperate with a buttonhole 41 to secure the holder to a rod or the like.
In operation, as shown in Fig. 1, the holder may be.
supported on the sun visor 11 by passing the same between the intermediate panel 22 and front panel 13, the cutouts 25 facilitating the separation of the panels for the insertion of the sun visor. The disposable tissue box 20 will be supported on the front face of the panel 13 while the rear panel 28 will be suspended freely along with the strap 36. The front face of front panel 13 may be provided with suitable instructions for positioning and mounting the disposable tissue box 20 thereon as well as indicia regarding the flaps 15 and 17.
As an alternate mounting, the flap 15 may be folded upwardly along the fold line 16 to receive within the cutouts 14 a cabinet drawer or door pull or alternately by bending the flap 17 downwardly along the fold lines 18, the holder may be mounted upon the neck of a door knob.
The fingers may be inserted through the aligned windows 30 and 23 and cut outs 14 to provide a convenient handle for the holder when not being used and to increase the portability thereof. The strap 26 will be provided with a slot 50 to accommodate the strap 31.
It should now be apparent that there has been provided a tissue holder which may be used in the home, at the office or in a car and which is provided with a cover flap, a cover and a glued tail flap and is adapted to hold a tissue box over many different hanging items. The holder may be carried about by means of the handle forming windows 30, 23 and 14 to carry the disposable tissue box 20 mounted thereon and is particularly ideal for a mother holding a baby in one of her arms and the tissue box together with the handle in her other hand.
While variouschanges may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims.
What I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. An article holder for attachment to a vehicle sun visor comprising, in combination, a first front panel, a second intermediate panel substantially identical in size and shape with said first front panel, said first and second panels having adjacent parallel upper longitudinal linear edges secured together, said first front panel and said second intermediate panel defining a compartment therebetween for slidably receiving a longitudinally extending sun visor of an automotive vehicle, a longitudinally extending strap secured at opposite ends thereof to the front panel and also to the opposite longitudinal extremities of the lower end of said intermediate panel with the central portion thereof spaced from said front panel, said strap being adapted to secure the lower portions of the front and intermediate panels together when attached to a sun visor and removably support between said intermediate panel and said strap a plurality of disposable paper bags, a rear flap hingedly connected to the upper edges of said intermediate and front flaps and having a flexible tape secured at one end to the lower extremity thereof, the opposite end of said tape having securement means releasably engaged with the bottom edge of said front panel.
