J. DOLLISON & J. LONG.
COMBINED BAG HOLDER, SCALE, AND TRUCK. No. 324,668. Patented Aug. 18, 1885.

/ ORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JASPER DOLLlSON AND JAMES LONG, OF SALESVILLE, OHI O.
COMBINED BAG-HOLDER, SCALE, AND TRUCK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 324,668, dated August 18, 1885.
(N0 model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, JAsrER DoLLrsoN and JAMES LONG, of Salesville, in the county of Guernsey and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oombined Bag-Holders, Trucks, &c.; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part'of this specification, and in whieh- Figure 1 is a side View of our improved bagholder, truck, and scale. Fig, 2 is a front view of the same. Fig. 3 is a rear view of the same, and Fig. 4 is a bottom view.
Similar letters of reference indicate corre' sponding parts in all the figures.
Our invention has relation to combined bag holders, scales, and trucks; and it consists in the detailed construction and combination of parts of the same, as hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter A indicates a square or rectangular frame, which is secured at a right angle to the lower ends of the handles B B, which have crosspieces 0 connecting them, and which have wheels or rollers D journaled at their lower ends.
A scale-beam, E, is pivoted in a bracket, F, projecting from the upper cross-piece of the handles, the said bracket projecting rearward, and the scale-beam is provided with a sliding and adjustable poise, G, and has a vertical rod, H, which is provided with a series of perforations, 1', at its upper portion, pivoted to the short arm of the scale-beam.
A sleeve, J, slides upon this vertical rod, and may be held adjusted upon the same by means of a pin or bolt, K, fitting in the perforations in the rod, although other fastening means may be employed.
A bracket, L, projects forward from this sleeve, and has a funnel, M, secured to its outer end, the neck of which funnel is provided with a number of hooks, N, by means of which a bag may be secured with its mouth around the neck of the funnel.
The rear end of a bifurcated lever, N, is pivoted to the lower end of the vertical rod, and the forward portions of the bifurcated arms of the lever are parallel, as shown at O, and pivoted at the outer ends to the under side of the forward cross-piece, P, of the rectangular frame A.
Two diverging lever-arms, Q Q, having their outer ends parallel, are pivoted at their outer ends to two brackets, R R, projecting downward from the inner sides of the rear ends of the side pieces of the frame A, and the inner connected ends of the arms are pivoted between the inner ends of the diverging arms of the bifurcated lever N.
Brackets S project from the under side of a scale-platform, T, and are pivoted at their lower ends to the inner ends of the parallel portions of the diverging legs of the bifurcated lever and of the diverging lever-arms Q, the said platform being thus supported above frame A.
It will thus be seen that the platform is supported by scale-levers, which connect by means of the vertical rod with the short arm of the scale-beam, and that as grain is filled into the bag through the funnel it may be weighed by the scale, which may be of any capacity, and which may be adjusted to tip at any desired weight, and after the desired weight of grain or other article has been filled in the bag the bag may be transported to another place upon the truck supporting the scale and the bag.
It will be seen that by adjusting the sleeve and bracket supporting the funnel, and through it the bag, the said funnel may be adjusted to support a bag of any desired length, and that the entire construction of the device is simple, durable, and not liable to get out of order.
Having thus described our invention, we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States In a combined bag-holder, truck, and scale, the combination of the vertical rod connecting the platform-levers to the scale-beam,
and having a number of perforations at its upper portion, the funnel and bracket having the sleeve J, and the pin K, fitting in a perforation in sleeve J and in the perforations in the Vertical rod, as and for the purpose shown and set forth.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own we hztve hereunto affixed our natures in presence of two witnesses.
JASPER DOLLTSON. JAMES LONG. Witnesses:
