BOTTLE-TOP.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 322,370, dated July 14, 1885.

To all whom it may concern: I

Beit known that I, CHARLES T. GROSJEAN, of the city of New York, State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Bottle-Tops, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof. 4

This invention relates to aniinprovement 1o in bottle-tops by means of which the top is always connected to the neck of the bottle, and

at the same time it can be very easily and rapidly secured down to the neck, and in such a manner that a tight joint is always secured,

and thereby all `leakage being prevented in case of shrinkage of the cork or rubber impinging on the top edge of the neck.

r e "and impin'giiig 7o` llange b, so that in case of the shrinkage of such cork or rubber a little further turning down of the cover e will take up the space left by reason of such shrinkage and thus secure a tight joint during the life of the bottle. There is thus produced a screw-top connected to the neck of the bottle, which at once determines the point at which the screwthreads are to be engaged, without the lia- 8o bilityof engaging at a wron g point,which thus unnecessarily wears away the screw-threads; and at the same time there is a screw-top, that during the time the bottle is in use any wear or shrinkage of the rubber or cork, 8 5 which heretofore has caused leakage, will be taken up.

I claim-- 1. In a bottle-top, the combination of a cover hinged to the neck of the bottle with a stop 9o for determining the point at which the screwthread in said cover shall engage with the screw-thread on the neck of the bottle, snbstantially as described. y

2.
