Description

(No Model.) I r G. W'UNDERLIGK.
PORTABLE MUSKET RACK.
Patented Ju1y'7, 1885.
WITNESSES: I INVENTOR y 'www 'flv llnrrnn Starts Parent Urrrcn.
GENNARO LWUNDERLIGK, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONEHALF TO CHARLES A. WVIDMAYER, OF SAME PLACE.
PORTABLE IVIUSKET- RACK.
$PECEFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 321,930, dated July 7, 1885.
Application filed July 7, 1884.
To whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GENNARO WVUNDER- LIcKfof Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Portable Musket-Racks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the IO annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a side elevation of my invention. Figs. 2 and 3 are plans of r 5 the parts composing the same.
My invention has for its object to provide a portable gun or musket rack and a combined gun and clothes rack.
My invention accordingly consists of the combination, construction, and arrangement of parts as hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, A represents the rack, composed of two brackets or members, B O, the former being the upper one or that for receiving the nozzle or bayonet end of the gun, and the latter the lower one or that in which the stock of the gun is placed and supported. Each bracket is composed of two plates. d and d, the lower plate, (1, having a back, (1", for
0 the top plate, (Z, to rest upon, and both plates have a series of aligning openings, cl, in which are swiveled the supporting-arms for the gun and the hooks for the hats or clothes, as shown. These plates, arms, and hooks are held in posit-ion relatively to one another by screws b and nuts I), which pass through the plates, as illustrated. The back-plates, d", are provided with screws ff, one of which carries a plate, F, having, if desired, notches or openings for 0 engagement with the said screws and adjustable nuts f as shown, whereby said brackets may be applied to a post or other support, and detached therefrom as occasion demands. Such construction affords a portable gun and 4 5 clothes rack. The bracket 0 is provided with the arm G, having pivoted curved seat 9, with side and end projections g, in which the stock (No model.)
of the gun is placed. The arm T of bracket B has a pivoted or hinged piece or claw, H, for grasping the nozzle of the gun, and is held in contact therewith by a spring, K, the end of which works in a groove, 1)", in the top of claw H. As the gun is inserted in or withdrawn from its rack, the seat 9 and claw I-I move on their pivotal or hinged connections to yield to the pressure applied to the gun in effecting its insertion and withdrawal to and from its rack.
WVhat I claim is- 1. The combination, with bracket G, having 63 A swiveled arm G and pivoted seat 9, of bracket B, having swiveled arm H, as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination of brackets B and 0, having fastening-screws f and swiveled hooks 65 L, the arm G, having pivoted seat 9 and swiveled in bracket 0, and arm H, swiveled in bracket 13, substantially as shown and de scribed.
3. The bracket B, composed of plate (1, havo ing back d, with holes or openings 02, plate d, with aligning apertures (1, connecting screw or red I), fastening-screws f and nuts f and swiveled arm I, having hinged claw H, with reacting-spring K, substantially as shown and described.
4. The bracket I3, comprising plates (Z cl, with back d, aligning apertures d, fastening screw or red I), swiveled arm I, having hinged claw H, with spring K, the screws ff, having adjustable nuts f, and plate F, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
5. The bracket 0, having fastening-screws and nutsff", and swiveled arm G, having pivoted seat 9, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
GENNARO WUNDERLICK.
