THOMAS NICHOLAS, OF CALUMET, MICHIGAN.
KlTCHEN-CABlNET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 318,924, dated May 26, 1885.
Application filed January 31, 1885.
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, THOMAS NIoHoLAs, of Calumet, in the county of Houghton and State of Michigan, have invented a new and Improved Kitchen-Cabinet, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved kitchen cabinet, especially adapted for holding the implements and the material required for making bread, pie, cake, &c., which cabinet is simple in construction, compact, and handy, and can be closed on all sides and be protected from dust.
The invention consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts'in all the figures.
Figure lis a perspective View of my improved kitchen-cabinet closed. Fig. 2 is an end view of the same closed. Fig. 3 is afront View of the same opened, parts being in section and parts being broken away. Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view of the same opened. Fig. 5 is a plan view of the same opened.
The oblong frame A, having its end, front, and rear boards placed edgewisc, is provided with the legs 13.
On the top C a leaf, D, is hinged, which is adapted to close an opening in the top, and to be swung down upon the top.
A board, E, is hinged on the front board of the frame, and is adapted to close an opening in the front board, and, when raised, is held in place by a cleat, F, secured on the under side of the leaf D, and adapted to pass in front 7 of the board E.
The rear board of the frame is secured, and
'on the bottom of the recess a dough-board, G,
(No model.)
en flour-box O is secured on the frame, and 7 its cover is formed by the hinged dough-board.
On the right-hand side of the dongh-board a salt-box, P, is formed, which can be closed by a cover, Q, hinged on the top C.
To the under side of theleaf D a n1eat-board,- R, is secured at the front edge.
At each side of the dough-boards. compartment, T, is formed in the top frame for receiving rolling-pins, &c. They are closed by the hinged board E.
By means of the leaf D, the board E, and the cover Q, the cabinet can be closed, so that the dough-boards and the receptacles cannot get dusty or soiled. "When the cabinet is closed, it can also be used as a table.
Having thus described my inventiomwhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a kitcheu-cabinet, the combination, with a frame,of the leaf D, the board E, hinged on the front, the flour-box O, and the hinged dough-board G, forming the cover of the flourbox, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. In a kitchen-cabinet, the combination, with the frame A, of the flour-boX O, the hinged dough-board G, forming the cover for the flour-box,the salt-box P, and its cover Q, substantially as herein shown and described.
3. In a kitchen-cabinet, the combination, with the frame A, of the flour-box O, the hinged dough-board G, the board E, hinged on the front of the frame, the leaf D, hinged on the top C, and the cleat F, secured on the bottom edge, substantially as herein shown and described.
