  • Kaolin or china clay powder does not agglomerate or gel to any serious degree in the nickel baths, and it is essential that any natural clay that is used not agglomerate or gel in the nickel bath to such an extent that a major percentage of the particles becomes greater than 5 microns in average diameter.
  • the desired satin finish is not obtained, that is, the micnofine pitting does not occur to the necessary extent.
  • montrnorillonite which is the main constituent of bentonite, gels in the bath to part-icles greater than 5 microns diameter and does not produce the satin nickel plate of this invention.
