Description
H. P. PRUIM. v WATOH MAKERS TOOL.
No. 812,221. Patented Feb. 10, 1885.
WITNESSES I 4 INVENTOR:
ATTORNEYS.-
NITE STATES PATENT rrron.
WATCH-MAKERS TOOL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 312,221, dated February 10, 1885.
Application filed March 4, 1884. (Model.)
T0 aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HIRAM P. PRUIM, 0 Grand Haven, in the county of Ottawa and State of Michigan, have invented a new and Improved Combination-Tool, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure l is a perspective view of my improved tool, illustrating its use as a screwdriver. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same, illustrating its use as a tweezers.
The object of this invention is to promote convenience in taking down and putting up watch-movements, and in doing other fine work requiring the alternate use of a screwdriver and tweezers.
The invention consists in acornbination-tool constructed with a screw-driver and a tweezers attached to a ring at a little distance from and nearly at right angles with each other, whereby both implements will be in convenient positions for use when the said ring is placed upon the forefinger of the operators hand, as will be herinai'ter fully described.
A represents a ring of such a size as to fit loosely upon the forefinger of the operator between the first and second joints.
To the lower side of the ring A is swiveled a small screw-driver, B, which may be made with a stationary or a separable bit, as may be desired. I prefer the construction last mentioned, as it allows a smaller or larger bit to be used, as the work to be done may re quire. Vith this construction, when the forefinger is extended, the screw-driver B will be in proper position to be used by the thumb and second finger, as illustrated in Fig. 1.
To the forward side of the ring A, at a little distance from the screw-driver B, is attached a tweezers, O, projecting at right angles with the screw-driver B, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Vith this construction, when the tweezers are to be used, the thumb is raised from the screwdriver B, and the tweezers G are grasped between the thumb and forefinger, the screw-driver swinging inward to ward the palm of the hand, as shown in Fig.2, so that the tweezers can be used with the same facility as when no screw-driver is connected with them.
This improvement enables the operator to do the Work much more conveniently and quickly than when one tool has to be laid down and a second tool taken up before said second tool can be used.
It is obvious that the operator can use the other tools necessary in performing his work without detaching the ring and its tool or tools from the finger.
Having thus described my invention, I
claim as new'and desire to secure by Letters- Patent 1. A combination-tool constructed substantially as herein shown and described, and consisting of a screw-driver and a tweezers attached to and connected by a ring adapted to be Worn on the forefinger, as set forth.
2. In a combination-tool, the ring A, adapted to be worn on the forefinger, and a swiveled screw-driver, B, secured thereto, substantially as described.
3. In a combination-tool, the ring A, adapted to be worn on the forefinger, and a tweezers, G, secured thereto, as shown.
4. A combination-tool consisting of a ring, A, adapted to be worn on the forefinger, and a tweezers, G, and swiveled screw-driver B, secured to said. ring at right angles to each other, as shown.
