SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 310,180, dated January 6, 1885.

Be it known that I, AGNES M. BRUNDAGE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sled Attachments, of which the following is a speciiication.

Hy invention relates to a means for holding a child on a sled to prevent the child from falling and obviate the necessity for holding onto the sled with the hands.

The invention consists in a novel construction, arrangement, and combination of rods or standards adapted to engage with sockets or holes in the sled, and a band or strap passing through slots in said rods or standards, and provided with means for readily securing its ends at different points.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a sled with my invention attached and ready for use. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the invention in position either to be used or to be rolled up and put away when not in use.

A represents an ordinary sled, such as are used by children.

13 represents a rod or standard, made of wood or other suitable material. The lower end of the rod is armed with a flanged ferrule, which adapts it to engage with a socket or hole in the top or floor of a sled, so as to fit snugly therein without descending too far. In the upper part of the rod is a transverse slot, s, running diagonally. There may be any suitable number of these rods or standards. As here shown there are two.

0 represents a band or strap, made of webbing, leather, or other suitable material. It is passed through the slots in the rods, and has its ends provided with hooks d, for engagement with eyelet-holes c. The child being seated on the sled, the strap 0 is passed over and in front of the body of the child, and the ends fastened by the engagement of the hooks and eyelet-holes, as illustrated in Fig. 1, or in any other suitable manner.

\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

As an improved article of manufacture, a sled attachment consisting of rods or stand ards 13, provided with diagonal slots 8, and having their lower ends furnished with flanged ferrules f, and adapted to engage with sockets or holes in the floor of the sled, and a band or strap, 0, passing through said slots, and provided with hooks and eyelet-holes or other means of fastening said strap or band in position to hold a child securely in place on a sled, substantially as and for the purpose herein described.
