Description

B. K. AUPP June 25, 1963 Filed March 20. 1 961 A /W s 3/3 W/ 0% United 3,094,992 GIRDLE Bette K. Kaupp, New York, N.Y., assignor to Maidengmn, Inc., New York, N.Y., a corporation of New Filed Mar. 20, 1961, Ser- No. 96,901 2 Claims. (Cl. 128-548) Referring to the drawings, I have shown at the front of the garment in FIG. 1 a triangular abdominal panel having vertical stretch and of V-shape, the latter being seamed to front exterior panels 2, having twoway stretch, as indicated by the arrows. Each front panel 2 is seamed to a vertical stretch triangular hip panel 3. These hip panels are seamed to rearwardly extending panels 4 having two way stretch, and as customary panels 4 carry a back panel 5 of vertical stretch only.
FIG. 1 is a view of the girdle in front elevation, and
FIG. 2 is a rear elevation partly broken away.
Panels 2 are preferably made each of a single piece of two-way stretch elastic material, with major lines of stretch indicated by the arrows.
On the inside of the garment at the front, and lying over upon each front panel 2, is an intermediate control panel 5 which lies at a downwardly extending angle and which is joined at its upper end to the abdominal panel 1, at its lower end to an appropriate triangular hip panel 3, its margins being stitched to an appropriate outer panel 2. These two control inner elastic panels 5 are cut on the bias and have major stretch as indicated by arrows shown in FIG. 2.
The said bias cut intermediate and inwardly disposed panels 5, being connected at their ends to the abdominal panel 1 of vertical stretch material and the triangular hip ts atent O panels 3 of like stretch, form links of control leading upwardly from the triangular hip panels to the abdominal panel at approximately the vertical center thereof.
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is as follows:
1. A girdle comprising a front center and abdominal triangular panel of vertical stretch extending from its wide end at the waist line of the girdle to substantially the base line of the girdle front at which it terminates at its pointed end, two-front panels joined at their inner margins to said abdominal panel, hip panels of triangular form but reversed in direction relative to the abdominal panel, said hip panels being extended to the front of the girdle and each joined to the outer margin of an appropriate one of said two front panels, said front panels angularly extending from the waist line of the girdle to the base line thereof and diverging toward the top of the garment, and back panels, in combination with two elastic bias-cut control panels each at and intermediate the inner face of one of the said diverging front panels and extending upwardly, at an angle, in each case, from a triangular hip panel to the abdominal panel, the ends of each control panel being joined to said hip panel and the triangular abdominal panel, as for the purpose described.
2. A girdle comprising a front V-shaped abdominal panel, two triangular hip panels with their apices extending above the transverse center line of the garment, but below the top of the garment, back panels, two control panels each seamed at one end to the abdominal panel and extending downwardly therefrom angularly to one of the hip panels and seamed at its other end thereto, said control panels being cut on the bias and of two-way stretch material, the bip panels and the abdominal panel being of vertical, i.e. longitudinal, stretch material, and diverging panels of two-way stretch material covering said control panels and seamed to the abdominal and hip panels.

Claims (1)
