HEYMAN BLOCH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND JULIUS FRANKENSTEIN, OF SAME PLACE.
GRATER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 307,742, dated November 1l, 1884.
Application filed February l, 1884.
To all whom t may concern.-
Be it known that I, HEYMAN BLOCH, of the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Grater, of which the following specification is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a new grater with two indented surfaces adapted to gratejiner and coarser articles.
The invention consists, principally, in the combination of a finerconvex indented grating plate with a coarser straight indented grating-plate, combined to form one grater.
The invention also consists in the details of improvement hereinafter more fully pointed out.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a back view of my improved grater. Fig. 2
' is a longitudinal central section on the line x vided witll a series of preferably seniicircular holes, having on their lower curved side outwardly and upwardly extending cutting-edges c, and on the upper straight side downwardly (No model.)
and inwardly extending guideplates d. The handle e is preferably made in one piece with back b. At the lower end the back b, and preferably also plate c, is made concave or cut away, so as to forni the two legsff, as shown.v
YV hen the grat-er a is used, the grated articles will roll down along the surface of the same in the usual manner, but when grater b is employed the large pieces cut off will fall through the holes between the two plates a b. The guideplates d will feed such pieces downward and preventthcin from falling upon and clogging grater a. As the pieces cut off fall upon the table upon which the grater is placed, they will be exposed toview and pass out from between the plates a b through the 5o vlower cut-away portion between legs ff.
I claim as my inventionl. As a new article of manufacture, agrater composed of an indented convex plate, a., and an indented straight plate,b, said plates being provided with cutters of different iineness, substantially as specified.
2. The combination of indented convex plate a with indented straight plate b, the plateb having upwardly end outwardly projecting cutting-edges c and inwardly and downwardly extending guide-plates d, and having cut-away lower end, substantially as specified.
H. BLOCH.
