IMPROVEMENT IN KNIFE-CLEANERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 116,635, dated July 4, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, JOSEPH SEEBERGER, of West Troy, in the coinity of Albany and State of New York, have invented certain Improve- 1n ents in Machines for Cleaning Knives and Forks, of which the following' is a specification:
Figure l is a view of my invention from above. Fig. Z is a side view. Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section.
D is a frame, made to rest upon a table, to which. it may also be attached. A A is a horizontal plate connected with the frame. This plate is covered with leather or other suitable material, which affords a surface suitable for cleaning when sand or emery is applied. B is a roller, arranged to act against the horizontal plate A A. The ends of this roller operate in .the boxes C C. G Gr are springs, which depress the roller B against the knife when the knife is forced between the roller and the plate A A. One side of the plate A A is made oval to adapt the surface for the use of forks.
In operating this machine the knife to be cleaned is forced between the roller B and the plate A A, and moved rapidly backward and forward.
An important improvement in the use of this machine is the use of the roller B, which gives the necessary pressure and facilitates the operation of cleaning.
I claim as my invention- The arrangement of the roller B, springs G G, part A A, and frame D, as set forth.
