UNITED STATES A'IENT UFFICE,
ADOLPH HIRSCH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DRESS TRllVHVHNG SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 298,691, dated May 13, 1884:.
Application filed February 21, 1884. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ADOLPH HIRsoH, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dress-Trimmings, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to trimmings for ladies sacques and other articles of dress; and it consists in the combination,in such trimmings, of two strips of fur and a strip of braid united to both fur strips, as hereinafter more fully described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which is a face view of my trimming.
In this drawing, the letter A designates the two strips of fur, and B the strip of braid, the latter being united to both fur strips by stitches or other suitable means. The position of the braid is upon one edge of the fur strips, and consequently if the hairs are directed toward the opposite edge thereof, the fur strips are left free from exposed raw edges, the braid, moreover, serving to join the fur strips, and being a medium for attaching the whole to a garment, so that the fur strips may be left nearly or entirely solid, only a few stitches being needed for holding them down on the gar ment.
It is evident that any kind of fur may be used for the fur strips, while the braid may be 0 composed of silk, chenille, velvet, leather, or any other suitable material.
I do not claim in this application a dresstrimming in which are combined a strip of braid and a strip of fur, the braid being laid 5 upon one edge of the fur and united thereto. Nor do I claim such a combination With the longitudinal edge of braid secured adjacent to one edge of the fur and projecting beyond the same, the projecting part of the braid 0 serving as a means for attaching the fur to the dress or other article, as such features form the subject of an application for a patent filed by me September 1, 1883, No. 10532051 WVhat I claim as new, and desire to secure 5 by Letters Patent, is
A dress-trimming in which are combined two strips of fur and a strip of braid united to both fur strips, substantially as and for the purpose described. 50
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ADOLPH IHIRSOH.
