REVERSIBLE VEST FOR LADIES GARNIENTS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 383,550, dated May 29, 18818. Application filed February 15, 1888. ,Serial No. 264,089. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, SAMUEL WooLF, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful ImprovementsinReversibleVests forLadiesGarments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved vest for jerseys and other ladies garments, said vest being constructed in such a manner that it can be several times reversed, so as to eX-4 pose either a plain or ornamental side, accord ing to the fancy of the wearer; and the invention consists of a vest for ladies garments, said vest being formed of sections that are stitched together and adapted to be folded in the center, said sections being provided along each edge with eyes for connection with the hooks of the jersey, dress, or other garment.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a front elevation of a j ersey or other garment with myimproved vest. Figs. 2 and 8 are front elevations of the vest, drawn on a larger scale, and showing different sides of the same; and Figs. 4 and 5 are horizontal sections of the vest, drawn on a still larger scale, and showing its connection with the jersey or other garment.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a jersey or other iadys garment, which is open at the frontand provided w-ithbuttons a along its outer edges, and with hooks a at the under sides of the overlapping edges, for connection with the adjustable vest B, which forms the front of the jersey or lother garment. The vest B is preferably made of four sections, b b,of equal size, but of different material-such as jerseycloth, silk, embroidered cloth, or other suitable fabric, so as to enable the wearer to use different sides of the front Bin connection with. the jersey or other garment. The four sections of the detachable vest B are stitched together at the edges and adapted to be folded at the center, so as to form a double front with intermediate folded portions, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5. Each section b is provided along its edges with as many eyes d cZ-preferably made 0f thread or other fastening devices-as there are hooks along the under side of the overlapping edges of the jersey or other garment.
When the vest is to be attached to the garment, the section which is to be placed in front is connected by its eyes to the hooks of the garment, as shown in Fig. 4. A vest of this construction permits the use of a plain or ornamental front with a jersey or other garment, and furnishes not only a protection for the chest of the wearer, but alsoa durable and ornament-al front for ladies7 garments.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. The combination, with a ladys jersey or other garment having hooks at the under side of its overlapping edges, of a detachable and reversible vest formed of folding sections pro` vided with eyes along the edges of each section, substantially as set forth.
2. A detachable and reversible vest for ladies7 garments, composed of folding sections stitched together `at the edges and provided with fastening devices along the edges of each section, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
SAMUEL VOOLF.
