J. G MILLER. HARNESS TUG SLIDE. No. 293,903. Patent-'ed Feb. 19
INVENTOR ATTORNEYS Phawlitrwgmpmn wafhlngwn. D. c
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN G. MILLER, OF OHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS.
HARNESS`TUG SLIDE.
SPECIII'BCATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 293,903, dated February 19, 1884. Application tiled July 12, 1883. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, JOHN G. MILLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Champaign, in the county of Champaign and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harness-Tug Slides; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or igures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure l of the drawings is a vertical sectional View of my invention. Fig. 2 is a front view, and Fig. 3 is a detail view.
This invention has relation to harness-tug slides; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the rack-plate on the saddle-Hap and the adjustable metallic loops in connection therewith, the metallic tug-slide having end loopsand .center pin to engage the back-band, and slotted or recessed in its inner face to accommodate the rack-plate, all as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter a designates the saddle-nap, and b the backband connected thereto.
On theouter face of the flap a is secured a rack-plate, c', the rack-face of which is turned inward or toward the flap.y The rack-plate is secured to th e'iiap by rivets d, passing through its ends, and on the rack-plate are theadjust-V able metallic loops e, which are. centrally notched at g, to engage the rack-plateand prevent transverse play when the back-band b is in position, having been passed through said loops. i
Hindicatesthe` metallic tug-slide, having the transverse opening or bearing k, through slide has been adj usted in position.
The inner face of the slide is designed to be in contact with the saddle-nap; and, in order to provide for the accommodation of the rackplate when the slide is adjusted to a low position, a slot or recess, z, isV made in the inner face of the slide, said slot or recess extending longitudinally, as indicated in the drawings.
The adjustment ofthe tug-slide is mainly governed by the rack-plate on the saddle-hap and the adjustable loop, which is xed in position with reference to said rack-plate when the back-band has been passed through said loop. i
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent', is-
saddle-nap, of the adjustable metallic loops,
the metallic tug-'slide having end loops and center pinto engage the back-band, and slotted or recessed in its inner face, to accommodate the rack-plate, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN G.- MILLER.
Witnesses:
J. L. ROY, JOHN YORKSHIRE.
