IMPROVEMENT IN HALTERS.
Specification forming part of Leters Patent No. 146,616, dated January 20, 187i; applcation iled July 30, 1573.
.To all lwhom fit may concern Beit known that I, AUs'rrN S. Buoons, of Auburn, in the county of Cayuga and State of New York, have invented certa-in new and useful Improvements in Combination-Halter and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference bein g had to the accompanyin g dra-W- ings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which forni a part of this speciication.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a halter made of one piece of leather or strap, Without laps or sewing, with suitable loops or castings, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art io which my invention a-ppertains to make and use the same, I Will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which is a perspective view of my halter.
My halter is made of a single strap or piece of leather, S, one end of which is passed through a loop, A, and fastened by a pin, a, in said loop. From this loop the strap runs to and through a curved loop, B, and from this to and through a similar curved loop, C, and up the side to and through another curved loop, D. From this it passes by an angle to the right to a point, E, and thence by an angle to the left to and through a curved loop, F,
and thence over the head to a loop, G, Where the other end of the strap is buckled. The
loops A and F are made in one piece, and the loops D and G in one piece. The loops B, O, I), and F are all provided with pins aY a., similar to the one on the loop A, and all of these pins pass through holes in the strap S, thus holding the strap in the proper position.
It will be seen that the parts of' the strap from A to B and from O to l) forni the side pieces of the halter, the part from. B to C the nosefstrap, from F to G the hcadstall, and from D to F the chin-strap. readily be changed in the various loops to make the halter suit anyanimal from a large horse to a colt. Sl and S2 are two additional straps under the -head of the animal, the former my own I aiiix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
