Description
NITED STATES- PATENT, OFFI E.
SAM. GUST.'BERNS TEIN AND MICHAEL SIMONSON, OF NEWV YORK, N. Y.
SHOW-BOX FOR TRIMMINGS. I
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 293,844, dated February 19, 1884 Application filed September 18, 1883. (N0 model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, SAMUEL G. BERN STEIN and MICHAEL SIMoNsoN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Show Box for Trimmings, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
By the common niethod of packing and keeping in store trimmingsviz., by reeling them on a board or card and placing the card in a boxthey are liable to become rapidly shopworn. Especially is this true of heavy fringes and marabous.
Our invention seeks to overcome this difficulty; and to this end our invention consists of the several combinations of parts, substantially as hereinafter fully set forth, and pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming, part of this specification, in which the figure is a perspective view of our new and improved trimming frame and box, the back covering of the frame being raised and one corner broken away 'to show the construction of the frame, andwith the box partly .brokenaway to show the supports for the frame.
A representsthe-frame, and B represents the box, which latter is provided at its corners with the supporting-posts b b, for supporting the frame A up from the bottom of the box, so that the fringe 0, held in the frame A, will not come in contact with the bottom of the box, so as to become wrinkled or injured. The frame A is provided with the series of hooks D D at the ends, or, instead, if desired, at its sides, and the fringe G is folded backand forth across the frame andplaced upon the hooks, as shown. The hooks D D might be secured directly to the frame Afbutwe prefer to first secure them to the strips E E, of some flexible material-such as leather, strong cloth, or tapeand then secure the strips to the frame by means of small nails or otherwise, so that the hooks may be taken in the hand and more readily passed through the folds of the fringe or other material to be placed in the frame.
F is the back covering of the frame A. This may be of paper, pasteboard, cloth, or other suitable material to fully protect the trimmings held in the frame from dust; and cover F may be made continuous; or, if desired, it may be slotted, as shown at F, so that the end 0 of the goods placed in the frame A may be brought throughthe slot, as shown, for convenience in exhibiting the goods.
At its ends, or, if desired, at its sides, the frame A is provided with the lifting-rings G G, by which the frame A may be conveniently raised out of and lowered into the box B and otherwise handled.
Constructed in this manner it will be seen that the goods may be easily put in the frame A, and that when in the frame. the goods may be .very nicely kept in hanging position, so that they will not become crushed in the box and folded down or wrinkled; and, besides, by means of the frame the. goods may be very easily handled and advantageously exhibited to customers.
Having thus described our invention, we
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent v 1. In a show-box for trimmings, the combination, with the frame A, having the series of hooks D D, of the box B, provided with sup ports Z; Z), for holding the frame above the bot tom and within the box, as set forth.
. 2. The frame A, having hooks D, in combination with the backing F, secured to the frame, and slotted, as shown at F, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
8. The combination, with box B, provided with'posts b b, of the frame A, having holding devices or hooks D, the backing F, slotted at F, and the lifting devices G, substantially as and for the purposes set fort 4.. In a show-box for trimmings, the combination, with the frame A, having the series of hooks D, and the backing F, of the box B, providedwith supports b b, for holding the frame above the bottom and within the box, substantially as set forth.
5. In a show-box for trimmings, the combination, 'with the frame A, having the flexible straps E, the series of hooks D, secured to said straps, and the backing F, of the box B, provided with supports'b b, for holding the frame :above the bottom and Within the box, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
