BAG-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 289,181, dated November 27, 1883.
Application filed September 5, 1883.
fo @ZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, LEANDERVALENTINE, of Rushford, in the county of Fillmore and `State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders, and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and useit, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms part of this specification.
My invention relates toA an improvement in bag-holders; and it consists in a bag-holder which is made of two pieces of wire or iron rods, which are connected together and made to operate as will be more fully described hereinafter.
The object of my invention is to provide a cheap and simple bag-holder which is made from only two parts, and which holder is elastic and yielding, so that while it holds the bag it is not liable to tear it.
The drawing represents a perspective of one form of my invention.
A D represent two wires or rods, out of which the bag-holder is formed. The wire or rod A is made U-shaped at its center, so as to form a means for suspending the bag-holder upon any suitable support or against thewall,
and which wire or rod has its ends turned outward and wrapped around the rod or wire D, as shown, and terminates in the points or projections C, upon which the bag is made to catch at its inner corners while being held open. The rod D is made perfectly straight at its center and upon each side as far as the wire or rod A is wrapped upon it, and at or near (No model.)
where the ends of the rod or wire A terminate the rod D is bent, so as to form the springs G and thesupporting-arms H. These springsG 4o ner corners of the bag are made to catch over 4 5 the upturned points C and along over the supporting-arms H. As these outturned arms are elastic, they will either give up or down, or in or out, as the bag may require, and will support the bag in position without the slightest danger of tearing or injuring it in any way.
If so preferred, the rod or wire D may have its ends Wrapped around the rod A, and then terminate in the points G, in which case the wire or rod A will have the springs G and the outturned ends H formed as a part of it. As will be seen from the above, only two pieces of wire or rod are used, and either part can be wrapped around the other in the manner shown and described.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- In a bag-holder, the combination of the two wires or rods A D, one of which is provided with the upturned ends C and the other with the elastic ends H, the two parts being connected together, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afl-ix my signature in presence of twol witnesses.
LEANDER VALENTINE.
