Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MARY A.. WVARNE, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
tsclssoes-HoLozst SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 257,745, dated October 30, 1883.
Application filed September 8, 1883. N0 model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARY A. WARNE, of the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Scissors-Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, and in which- Y .t
Figure 1 is a perspectivc'view, and Fig. 2 an edge view.
My invention relates to a device intended to hold scissors when not in use, and is de signed to be attached or secured to the gara ment or wearing-apparel of the user.
My invention consists of two hooks formed upon or secured to a suitable body provided with a pin, the two hooks being adapted to receive the two eyes or finger-loops of the scissors, and the pin being adapted to secure the device to the persons clothing, as more fully described hereinafter.
the two hooks of the device;
Referring to the drawings, A A represent B, the body, and
O the pin. The hooks are a suitable distance apart, so that each will receive one eye or finger-loop of the scissors, as shown'in Fig. 1, and theyishould be close enough together that they will 'tend to keep the points of the scissors preferred to make them somewhat curved, as
shown, so that their upwardly-extending ends will not be liable to engage with objects and annoy the user. a
The body may be of any desired size [and shape, and may be solid, as shown, or maybe open or formed of wires, which would also form the hooks. The pin may also be of any desired shape, and adapted to be engaged over the belt of the wearer or to hook into any part of the apparel.
It will thus be seen that a simple, neat, convenient, and cheap device is had for holding scissors when not in actual use, but when itis desired to have them about the person within handy reach.
I claim as my invention As a new article of manufacture, a scissors holder consisting of a suitable body having 5 two hooks on the same'plane, to receive the two finger-loops of the scissors, and a pin projecting from the body, by which it can be secured to a suitable object, substantially as set forth.
I MARY A. WARNE. In presence ofr Gno. H. KNIGHT,
J. WAHLE.
