My invention relates to that class of seals which are made'use of for sealing baggage and railway cars; and the nature thereof consists in certain improvements in the construction of the same, hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents the seal as it appears in use. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section representing the ends connected and locked together. Fig. 3 represents the ends detached. Fig. 4 represents the blank or piece of metal brought to the required shape for. the finishing operation.
A piece of tin is cut to form a blank of the required form, as is shown in Fig. 4. This blank is provided with projections b and 0, the latparts.
ter of which is doubled back upon the blank,
as is clearly indicated in Fig. 2, which repreform a receptacle for the end (Z, which is alsodoubled back upon the blank, as shown best in Fig. 3. This bent end d is made to interlock with the bent end 0, as is clearly shown in Fig. 2, and the part b is bent over the interlocked parts, as is'best shown in Fig. 1. The material usedin constructing the seal is frangible tin or some other frangible metal, which will be fractured should an attempt be made to tamper with the device or disengage its I claim and desire to secure by Letters .Patent of the United States A car seal blank consisting'of the strip a, having the lateral extension I) and end extensions, c and d, as and for the purposes described.
