, To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LODOWIGK LEEDS, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at New London, in the county of New London and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fold- 1 ing Beds; and I do herebydeclare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of I the invention, such as willenable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and I i use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, andto letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a tion, strong and durable, and which may be readily folded into compact form for stowing away or shipping, orextended for use, as desired.

The invention consists in certain novel constructions and combinations of parts, which will be hereinafter particularly described, and

It is necessary to detach these hooks I when it is desired to.fold the bedstead,so that when the head and foot boards are pressed toward each other the two pairs ofbars on each side may separate at their centers, as shown in dotted lines, Fig. 1, to bring the bedstead to its collapsed condition for stowing away or shipping. i

It will be observed that the sections of the bottomturn on the cross-bar F to fold simultaneously with the folding or collapsing of the side pieces. V

When it is desired to use the bedstead as'an infants bedstead or crib, it may be adjusted so that the jointed ends of the bars D D touch the floor, as shown in Fig; 4:, aind the nuts on' the bolts which pass through the slots at and d may be screwed up tightly, so that the bars of the two pairs will be tightly clamped together between the heads of the bolts and the puts. this position the hooks H will hang freely, and may be utilized to support a rod, I,.f0r holding up a canopy, mosquito-bar, or fly-net.
