To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SOPHIA PELKEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Eau Claire, in the county of Eau Claire and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Medicine-Vial Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to an improved vialholder with spoon attached for the exact measproved vial-holderand spoon, with raised cover from the casing. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same, the cover removed, exposing the case, to which a table-spoon, in place of a tea-spoon, is attached, as shown in dotted lines. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of Fig. 1, with the cover in position on the case. Fig. 4 is a front end view, the stopper-plate taken on; and Fig. 5 shows the covering-plate in perspective view, mounted with spring and handle and stopperplate, to operate the opening and closing of the case and via].

A is the vial-holdin g case, of cylindrical form,

and made of light suitable metal. A narrow open space alongside is left for the purpose to render the whole elastic or spring-like, and intended to embrace and clamp firmly an inserted medicament-vial of about the same size as the casing itself is in dimensions. The open part of the case is turned, upward, and both sides of the same are provided with a graduated scale, one side accounting for a certain amount of drops, the.other being for measure.

The rear end of the'case is provided with a i bracket, f, which also forms the bottom of the same, and intended .to receive the coveringplate mounted upon it. The under side of the casing carries a small and perforated dropspoon, E, on a spring-handle, l, which is riveted to the case a short distance from its front end, and the spoon extends underneath the mouth of the inc-ased vial to receive the flow of the contents, which runs in drops through the orifice 0 in the basin of the spoon. For con venience-ofcarrying, the dropspoon can be turned around its pivot n, resting on the back of the case, assisted by the spring-handle. The latter is mounted at its under side with a Hat square piece of metal, g, for supporting the case when at rest, and keeps the contents of the vial back in case of accidental opening of the cover or the spring stopper-plate. The space on between the casing A and the springhandle I of thedrop-spoon E is intended for the reception oil-a teaspoon, I), with short fitting handle made for the purpose, or, it a table-spoon have to take its place, the same will be run in that space, with its handle lodging tangihiy close to the rivet n in the direction of the drop-spoon, in whose basin the substituted' spoon finds a support, as shown in dotted lines at G, Fig. 2, in the accompanying drawings. The spring-handle of the dropspoon is acting as a clamping device, holding the lower part of the entrusted spoon-handle in secured position, while the vial-holding case can be easily operated upon it.

B is the cover-plate of the vial-casing A, consisting of the covering part 0, with projecting handle B in the rear and spring stopperplatect in the front. The whole is made in one piece, as shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings, and of same material as the casing. The coverin g part 0 is in corresponding shape to the case,'and covers the upper half part of the sainein full length, keeping the vial protected and its contents out of sight. The front part of the cover terminates in the stopper-plate a, with a loop-bended spring-neck, h, for closing hermetically the mouth of the vial inserted in the case by the pressure of the spring toward the stopper-plate, which may be provided with an india-rubber lining on its inner surface. The rear part of the cover is bended down at d, and extending out in length and shape of a handle resembling the usual pattern of a tea or table spoon. The bended part carries a fitting-guard, g,which is riveted to the handle of the cover-plate B, and with the same to the base of the bracket f of easing A, in a position to cover the same and the mouth of the via]. The cover 0 is mounted on its upper surface with a spring-handle, b, and is supported in its action by a spiral spring, 0, underneath, which is fastened to the handle B of the cover-plate B, and when operated the spring-handle presses down the spiral spring and against the guard e, which in turn bears on the bended part d, forcing the cover to open, and, when relieved from pressure, drops back in its former position. The stopper-plate follows, consequently, those motions, and opens and closes the mouth ofthe incased vial.

I claim- 1. Inamedicine-vial-holdingcase,thecasing A for receiving a medicine-vial of corresponding size, open alongside and provided with a graduated scale, having a. bracket,f, on one,

. end, and provided with a perforated dropspoon, E, the same having a spring-handle, 1,

and support 9, for the purpose substantially as described and specified.
