LAMINAR SOLED SANDAL WITH HEEL POCKET Nov. 29, 1955 Filed April '7, 1955 United States Patent O This invention relates to a sandal comprising an outer layer serving as a sole, obtained from a resin and rubber mixture, and a stiff inner member of felted rubber, between which a cork-rubber element forming the heel is interposed.
Two insoles are arranged on the stiif member, thev outer layer being formed with an upper projecting edge to which a braid is secured throughout the sandal contour.
The upper is formed by strips anchored to the sti element and extending throughout the upper sandal portion.
The invention shall be described in detail with reference to the drawing in which Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the sandal embodying the invention disclosed herein.
Fig. 2 is a cross section thereof.
1 denotes an outer layer obtained from a resin and rubber mixture and serving as a sole. Said outer layer 1 is formed with an upwardly directed edge 1a extending through the sandal contour and holding the further elements of the sandal, namely, a stift` member 3 of felted rubber placed on the sole and a cork-rubber block 2 placed at the heel between the elements 1 and 3.

A braid 6 is arranged on the top of edge 1a of the outer layer which extends slightly above the insole 5 and crossed straps 7 for retaining the foot are secured to the stiff element 3 by suitable means.
The rear strips 9 fitting the instep are guided within two lateral straps 8 likewise secured to the stiff member 3.
What I claim is:
In a sandal, a molded outer layer of a resin and rubber mixture and comprising an outsole portion, an integral downwardly projecting heel pocket and an integral upstanding peripheral rim extending around the entire periphery of the sandal, a rubber cork conglomerate heel element filling said heel pocket, the upper surface of said heel element being substantially ush with the upper surface of said outsole portion, a stii inner sole element overlying said outsole portion and heel element, a sponge rubber layer overying said sti inner sole element and an insole covering said sponge rubber layer, said inner sole element, sponge rubber layer and insole extending the full length of the sandal, the peripheral edge of said upstanding peripheral rim projecting up above said insole and having holes therein, and a plurality of strips forming the upper anchored to said stili element.
