1 Claim. (Cl. 2169) The present invention refers to an improved glove.

In the conventional methods of making well-fitting hand from the wrist to the base of the fingers, and to form the portion of the glove which is to cover the thumb. Furthermore, in such conventional methods the four fingers of the glove include one or more further intermediate parts which are inserted between the finger portions proper and the main body portions of the glove, that is, the portions covering the palm and back of the hand.

The main purpose of the present invention is to provide a well-fitting glove formed of only two pieces which are sewn together to form the finished article.

Further purposes of the invention will be evident from the following detailed description of one preferred embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein:

Figure 1 is a general view of a glove according to the present invention;

Figures 2 and 3 show the two pieces from which the glove is made; and

Figure 4 is a general perspective view illustrating the relative position of the two pieces before they are sewn together.

Throughout the several figures of the drawings the same reference numerals have been employed in order to designate equal or corresponding parts of the invention.

As illustrated the glove according to the present invention consist of two pieces designated with a and b respectively.

Piece a is intended to cover the palm of the hand whilst piece b is designed to cover the back of the hand.

The portion a shows a pattern having five tongues a1, a2, as, at and as which will cover the inside of the five fingers of the finished glove.

Portion b also has five tongues b1, b2, b3, b4, and bs, which are intended to cover the back of the five fingers of the finished glove. All the tongues are of suitable shape and length so as to form the fingers of the glove.

It will be seen, however, that the tongue as which is to form the inside of the thumb portion of the glove extends in a direction contrary to that of tongues a1, 112, as and a4 and, in fact, the tongue as is formed by cutting away the portion a of the piece a. On the other hand the back piece b is wider than portion a. The portion on the left hand side of dotted line 0 would coincide exactly in shape and contour with piece a if the same "ice included portion a, since piece b also comprises the lateral portion b' which has an extension forming the tongue bs which projects in the same direction as the remaining tongues of piece b. Tongue bs is to form the back of the thumb portion of the glove.

In order to join the two pieces together tongue as is folded upwardly along dotted line d and piece b is then placed on the top of piece a so that the fingers b1, b2, b3 and b4 overlie the fingers (ll, a2, a3 and at.

The section b of bs is then folded along line 0 so that the thumb portion overlies thumb portion as. This position is shown in Figure 4 and the glove will be complete as soon as the two pieces are joined together along the entire contour of the outer border line of piece b. This may be achieved by giving stitches along the adjacent edges of the two pieces or by any other joining means.

It will be evident that the shape of the pieces may change in order to change accordingly the design of the finished glove and in order to obtain a narrow opening at the upper end of the glove shown in Figure 4, line 4, along which section b is folded in lateral direction would be oblique or parallel to the outer border of section b.

We claim:

A two-piece glove comprising a palm piece and a back piece, said palm piece having a palm portion for covering the palm of a hand of the wearer, an inner wrist portion at one end of said palm portion for covering one part of an inside portion of a wrist, four tongues at the other end of said palm portion for covering the inner sides of four fingers, and a fifth tongue extending from an intermediate end of said palm portion for covering the inner side of a thumb, one side of said wrist portion terminating inwardly of the thumb side of said palm piece, thereby leaving a cut-out area in a longitudinal alignment with said fifth tongue, said back piece having a main portion to cover the back of a hand, an outer wrist portion at one end of said main portion for covering an outside portion of a wrist, four tongues at the other end of said main portion for covering the outer sides of four fingers, a fifth tongue alongside said main portion for covering the outer side of a thumb, and a supplemental wrist portion adjoining said latter fifth tongue and said outer wrist portion and adapted to close said cut-out area, and further adapted, with said inner wrist portion, to completely cover an inside portion of a wrist, the two said pieces being marginally joined to form coverage for a hand, including its fingers and a wrist; all said finger tongues being tapered to afford a good fit upon fingers and said palm and back portions being tapered from the parts thereof adjoining the finger tongues to a reduced width at said wrist portions to provide increased inside space for the base, finger knuckles of a hand and reduced inside space for a wrist.
