Description

June 14, 1955 I E. L.. BURANDT 2,710,409 GLOVE LEASH Filed Dec. 21, 1953 llYl/E/YTO/E. EDITH L. BURANDT. 5/ 2/ Unite The present invention relates to a new and improved article of manufacture comprising a glove leash, wherein a leash or strap attached at one end to one glove of a pair is provided on opposite sides of the other or free end thereof with suitable fasteners adapted to detachably engage a separate fastener on either glove, whereby said gloves detachably may be leashed or connected by a single leash, which leash is adapted to be formed into an open or a closed loop arranged to be placed astride or closed connection with a purse, or handle thereof, or other separate article being carried, to prevent inadvertent misplacement or loss of either or both gloves.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved article of manufacture comprising a glove leash having improved means adapted to detachably attach the separate gloves of a pair together, and/or to a separate article, such as a purse, or other item being carried, to prevent the loss of either or both gloves.
Another object is to provide a new and improved device of the type described having improved means adapted to materially decrease, if not entirely eliminate, the risk of inadvertent displacement or loss of one or both gloves of a pair.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved device of the character set forth having a greatly simplified and economically produced construction, a simple and easy operation, and a maximum efliciency.
The improvement comprises the device disclosed in the drawings forming a part of the present application, and in which- Figures 1 and 2, combined, disclose a pair of separate gloves, with the improved leash attached;
Figure 3 is a broken detail showing a side elevation of a pair of gloves upper portion or hems, disclosing one method of leashing a pair of gloves; and
Figure 4 is a similar view, disclosing a further method of securing said gloves against loss.
Referring to the drawings, the numerals 2 and 4 are used to designate the separate left and right hand gloves, respectively, of a pair, the left glove 2 being provided, preferably adjacent the hem 5 thereof, with a separate fastener 6 of any suitable detachable type, while a similar fastener 8 is attached similarly to the right hand glove 4, preferably at the point of attachment of the leash 10.
What is termed for descriptive purposes a leash 10, which may be an elastic or nonelastic strap, has one end attached to one glove 4, for instance, preferably at the point of location of said leash or strap 10, the outer end of which leash 10 is provided on opposite sides thereof with opposite detachable fasteners 12 and 14 adapted for detachable engagement with the fasteners 8 and 6 on the gloves 4 and 2, respectively.
In operation, one fastener 14, for instance, on one side of the outer or free end of the leash 10, may be attached to the fastener 6 of the left glove 2, detachably disposing the two gloves in a superimposed relation and bending the leash 10 into an open loop, with the gloves virtually connected at their respective hems 5.
States Patent t This arrangement also will prevent the inadvertent relinquishment and loss of one glove, while a carrier subconsciously is carrying both; a not infrequent occurrence. To prevent both gloves from loss or inadvertent relinquishment, the loop formed in the leash 10, as illus trated in Figure 3 of the drawings, may be looped astride the carriers finger, or placed astride the topedge of a purse, not shown, and within the confines of a handle thereon.
As a further precaution, however, a still further security may be obtained by attaching the opposite fastener 12 on the outer end of the leash 10 to the fastener 8 of the right hand glove 4, which, through the medium of the engaging relation of the opposite fastener 6 of the left glove 2, will detachably hold both gloves together at their hems 5 and thereby form a closed loop 16, as disclosed in Figure 4 of the drawings, which loop 16, before being closed, may be looped through or around a purse handle or other small article being carried and with which such a loop easily and elfectively may be engaged. v
As a still greater precaution and security against loss of the detachably connected gloves 2 and 4, an elastic leash may be provided and stretched, before fastening the same into a closed loop 16, around the wrist, which will not only secure the gloves, but will prevent interference with the opening and exploration of the interior of a purse without risk of inadvertently detaching and losing the gloves.
Having described my invention, I claim:
1. In a new article of manufacture, the combination with a pair of gloves each having a separate fastener adjacent the hem thereof; a leash having one end secured to one glove at the point of the fastener thereon; and separate fasteners on opposite sides of the other end of said leash adapted to detachably engage the fasteners on opposite gloves. p
2. In a new article of manufacture, the combination with a pair of gloves each having a separate fastener adjacent the hem thereof; an elastic leash having one end secured to one glove and adjacent the hem thereof and at the point of the fastener thereof; and separate fasteners on opposite sides of the other end of said elastic leash adapted to detachably engage the fasteners on oppo site gloves.
3. In a new article of manufacture, the combination with a pair of gloves of a separate detachable fastener on each glove adjacent the hem thereof; a leash having one end secured to one glove at the point of the fastener thereon; and a separate detachable fastener on opposite sides of the other end of said leash adapted to engage the separate fasteners on opposite gloves and detachably connect the hems of said gloves and to form a loop adapted to leash said gloves to a separate article.
4. In a new article of manufacture, the combination with a pair of gloves of a separate detachable fastener on each glove adjacent the hem thereof; an elastic leash having one end secured to one glove at the point of the fastener thereon; and a separate detachable fastener secured to opposite sides of the other end of said elastic leash adapted to engage the separate fasteners on opposite gloves and to form a loop adapted to leash said connected gloves to a separate article.
