Description
March 1, 1955 J. CAUSSE HIGH ADHERENCE GLOVE Filed April 18, 1952 United States Patentd -O HIGH ADHERENCE GLOVE Jean Causse, Millau, France Application April 18, 1952, Serial No. 283,097
Claims priority, application France September 25, 1951 8 Claims. (Cl. 2-159) This invention relates to a glove which has been `specially designed for all kinds of manipulations and handlings in the course of which security requires a strong adherence between the hand and the manipulated part or the handled object. This glove will thus be used with yadvantage by automobile drivers, engine-drivers, persons manipulating fragile or dangerous objects, etc.
The glove according to the invention is mai-my characterized by the fact that it comprises a plurality of suction-grip elements of resilient material which are placed at convenient points of the glove.
According to a presently preferred but not limitative embodiment, the invention may further comprise al1 or part of the following features:
(a) A series of suction-grip elements is placed in the par-t of the glove which straddles the palm of the hand and the base of the lingers.
(b) Further suction-grip elements are placed on the end joint of each nger, that is to say, on the second joint of the thumb and on the third joint of each other finger.
(c) The suetion-grip elements of each series are solid with, and project from, a common base plate which is placed against the inside of the inner or palm face of the glove, the suction-grip elements being engaged into corresponding openings formed in said inner face of the glove, so that the adhering faces of said suction-grip elements are level with the external surface of said inner face of the glove.
The appended drawing represents by way of example an embodiment of the glove according to the invention.
|Fig. l is a front view of the inner side of the glove.
IFi-g. `2 is a front view of a series of sucton-grip elements solid with a common base plate.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary section on line III- III of Fi 1.
according to the shown embodiment of t-he invention the glove G, which is of leather, fabric or other suit-able material, is provided on its inner or palm face 1 with a plurality of suction-grip elements each of which cornprises a substantially cnpshaped body 2 of resilient material formed on its front face with a concavity 2a which ensures the suotiondgrip. These elements are thus adapted to adhere strongly to the part to be manipulated or to the object to be handled.
`In the shown embodiment, a series A of suction-grip elements is distributed in two rows over the portion of the inner face of the glove which straddles the palm orf the hand and the base of the fingers, wh-ile tive further series comprising each two suction-grip elements 'are placed on the end joints of the tive fingers, that is to say, on the second joint of the thumb and on the third joint of each other finger.
In each series, the suction-grip members of resilient material are preferably solid with a common base plate of the same material. The base plates are designated respectively by the references 3, 41, 42, 43, 44 and 45.
Each base plate is placed against the inside ot the inner face 1 of the glove and is secured thereto, 'for example by stitches (not shown). A lining 6 may further be provided in order to hold the base plate in position. The suction-grip elements -2-2a, which project from their base plate as shown on Fig. 3, are engaged into openings formed in the inner face 1 of the glove, in Isuch manner that the adhering faces of said suction-grip elements are level with the external surface of said inner face 1 of the glove.
2,702,906 Patented .Man 1, 1955 -It will be understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiment which has been described and shown and that it covers also any variations thereof which are based on the saine principle and fall within the scope of the appended claims.
